Boy, think almost stinks of "stringing" him along and waiting until all the other vacancies were filled; then cutting him without the ability to find another HC job. Boy, I bet Jerry Jones wants a do-over right about now!

Lets see if I got this right: 14 - 2 and you get fired. 3 - 13 (Detroit Lions) and Marinelli keeps his job? I'm not sure who's organization is crazier.

This is great :(. Tell Marty that he's going to be a lame duck head coach for another season, so both the coordinators get nervous and go to other teams to be head coaches. Now fire Marty . How freaking stupid is that?

A.J. Smith has made a lot of good decisions in his time, but this is crazy. Why didn't they just can him at the end of the season, and hire Cameron as the head coach? Now what? Anybody that's any good is already working. The only name coach available that comes to mind is Dennis Green, and I'm not crazy about his achievements as a head coach. Maybe Don Coryell will come out of retirement :).

I had read somewhere that Jimmy Johnson is and has been big buddies with Spanos (Chargers owner) for several years.Who knows, maybe they're trying to talk JJ out of retirement. As for Marty, perhaps Wade will try and bring him to Dallas in some kind of capacity.

A lot of my customers today were hoping that Cleveland's coach (Crenell) would see the axe and perhaps Marty would come back as the Brown's coach. But I'm not sure how that would even be possible...doesn't he still have a year left on his contract with San Diego, and as such, isn't able to coach this year?

Maybe .......... SD didn't want Cameron as thier coach, or they would have done something sooner.

Even IF Marty did have a year left (and I think he does) he would still be able to coach this year, but SD would have to agree to let him out of that part of his contract. Seeing they didn't want him, I don't think they would do that to him.
Marty will probably end up in the TV media this year., maybe Cowher too.

Norv Turner is still available. Wasn't he part of the SD staff before Marty got there? In fact didn't the press think he was going to get the job Marty got?

Too bad Heath Shuler is out of football. they could get back together.

I can't believe that they did this. Unbelievable how a coach can go 14-2 and get fired. I know he doesn't have the best record in the playoffs but it isn't all his fault the players don't play.

All I can say is San Diego had better make it to the playoffs and if not make it to the Superbowl, they sure as hell had better be knocking on the door. Otherwise the management should be the first to go next winter.

Another thing to consider. Aren't the Chargers trying to get the voters in that area to approve a new stadium to be built?
