This kid for the Marlins LEADS all NL rookies in BA, OBP, Hits, Runs, Total Bases and top 5 in every other offensive category and there is absolutely NO MENTION of this kid as possible Rookie Of The Year....why?! AND he had to learn to play leftfield ON THE JOB.....wow!

Not to mention, the Marlins have been in the hunt most of the year for a playoff game...and not one single nationally televised game by either ESPN or Fox Saturday game of the week!!

IF this kid was playing for either the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs or Dodgers or the even the Mets....he would be the 2nd coming.

The Marlins? Aren't they the Red Sox AAA team? Sounds like this kid will have a bright future once he gets into the big leagues. :D

And yet...in there short time on the planet...they have won JUST AS MANY World Series and the Red Sox.;)

Actually, if it WEREN'T for the Marlins.....the Red Sox might have never won a World Series....;)

For all the Marlins fans from the Riff archives...

With those stats, who could Coghlan possibly be trailing in the NL ROTY race?

...all the players people have heard of.

The Marlins are not on national TV because their home games are depressing to watch...even when they have a good crowd the football stadium seems empty. Hopefully the new stadium will change that.

The perception is that the Marlins are also a transient franchise, with no identity. The fans are transient, an incredible amount of them come to the stadium to root for the visitors. And the players are transient as well. Their stars have been shipped away early in their careers in the past, and the feeling is that it will happen again.

This is why people don't want to invest a lot of time in the team, both from a local and national standpoint.

Sandra you are dead on. Im a diehard Marlins fan , and i dread going to a mets or phillies game. You really dont know who the home team is. Harv

Isn't this the team a year or two ago that had a payroll of something like $8 million and was making all kinds of cash through the profit sharing? I'm pretty sure people hear things like that and baseball fans or not, it's hard to root for a team when you know ownership is just trying to make a profit.

Do you mean revenue sharing?
