Clear view of southern skies?

I've considered adding another dish to an apartment I have outside my primary residence where I have my current receiver.

Is a clear view of the souther sky what I need? Will the dish still function if some tree branches cross into the view?

I suppose some of this I will not know until I attempt to set it up myself.

You will need a clear line of site.

If I am buying a dish to use in at a portable location should I get a 1000.2 if I have a 1000.4 installed at home? or am i required to also get a 1000.4 in order to get all the HD channels?
