I was curious what others thought about Commercial TV and Commercial Free TV.

I have always felt that any broadcaster that is currently receiving compensation for airing commercials or receives income from paid advertisements should not be allowed to charge for the reception of its signal.

Conversely, any broadcaster that does not receive compensation or does not air commercials to gain income from advertisements should be allowed to charge for the reception of its signal.

Under the FCC's rules thats OTA broadcasters can only broadcasts in the clear and and one free subchannel.

If they go to pay TV with ads, then they must pay tax fees to the FCC for scrambling the ads supported channel on the ota subchannels.

That's the law, as far I know unless you can correct me on the wrong informations that I got from.......:)
