Coolsat 5000 Manual Scan

For some unexplained reason, whenever I do a manual scan on my Coolsat 5000 all my stored channels get wiped out and the Box displays only the manually scanned channels when I turn off and turn on the box using the remote. Is this normal? If not how can I fix this annoying issue?

uh no that is not normal

The only time I lose channels is if a transponder changes channels around and some leave. 97W and the Equity channels are examples.

I'm not close to the Box, but I think it is Ver1.0.

I have never seen this issue before.
You could try reloading the factory firmware, or try this custom firmware that fixes a few of the glitches of the factory firmware, and is not hacking firmware. http://ftafirmware.freehostia.com/

Mine does the same. For that reason, I never use manual scan.
What is manual scan anyway?

My newer CS5000:
S/W 1.01 FEB 27 2006
H/W 1.10

My older (previously owned eye-patch box) CS5000:
S/W 1.00 OCT 07 2005
H/W 1.10

I'll try both to confirm what happens. I may be confusing Auto scan with Manual scan. But I do recall one of the scans does wipe out the stored TPs.

I still wonder why the different scans. Is it because channels can stay on a TP and change just SR, VID, PID, thus perform a faster update to the file versus a full blind scan?

It has all the updates. There is also a Coolsat 6000 firmware as well.

I tried it again last night. It appears to be working as you say.
I must have fat thumbed the remote last time.

Funkypc, the update from the link seems to have done the magic.:up My preliminary tests indicate the issue has been resolved. I will play with the CS5K in the next few days to confirm. It seems the file, I had in the box before maybe corrupt after all. Meanwhile, I will download the version from Coolsatusa.com and test it in the coming days.
