Just got a Coolsat 5000 Platinum from gosatellite.com and got it going, but how do I add new satellites? I noticed SBS 6 isn't on the default list, and should I download the new firmware with the cable that came with it, if so, how?

i use a channel editor (so much easier) but if you goto
menu
installation
dish settings (you can also rename under the motorized settings)
there at the bottom of the screen is a rename button
you can use it to rename on of the default satellites

the "new" software for the Coolsat does no good. Its the same list. You can add them like gabshere said (there's a spot at the end for new satellites) or you could rename a satellite that isnt visible from the US like Brazilsat

or use ChannelMaster and organize them the way you want :)

Ig you use CM, you would need to use the attached loader to upload it from the Coolsat. Then open in CM

Ice, I have never did a firmware upgrade, can you tell me what exactly to do with the receiver and my computer?

Thanks.

The only firmware on the coolsat site is what's in your box right now (if the box is fresh)

but you would need a null modem cable. Download the file I posted above (the loader). To upload channels
-open loader
-select channels
-select to computer
-click browse to save file
-click connect and follw the instructions. You might have to do a power cycle (with the switch on back) to make it acknowledge it
