D* receiver use for Dish or Cable?

I have a D* receiver (HR10-250).

Will such a receiver (or any D* receiver) work if the input signal is Dish or Cable?

It is built to decode D*'s signal and will not work with any other source like dish or cable, they each require their own receiver.
