Digital radio scan always comes up dry.

I have an Avertv A180 digital tuner card that I use to pick up local HD broadcasts. That part works fine, but it also has an option to scan for digital radio stations. Problem is, every time I run a scan, it never finds any. I have the antenna, with a VhF/UHF/FM 30db gain amplifier attached to it aimed at the mountain (32 mile distance))where all of the TV towers (there are a total of 5) are located. I am in the NEPA (#54) market area.

Is it be possible that there simply are not any in operation in the area yet???

If that is the case, how long is it going to take before they start coming online?

What are the chances that they will be playing my kind of music (classic rock)?

Do they be share the 88-108Mhz band that the analog stations are using?

If not, what frequency band do they operate on?

I had ordered a AverTV Bravo Hybrid (H788) and so I've seen/used the AverTV Media Center software and know where you're coming from.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the software is looking for DAB which are used in Canada but not in the USA.

To add insult to injury, the iBiquity HD Radio system was chosen for the USA since the Military has claim over the frequency that DAB works in.

And yes, HD Radio uses the same FM band (88-108MHz) as regular analog FM radio stations use.
That extra hiss in your analog station sound, thats the HD radio signal.

PS: HD monkier is Hybrid Digital, not High Definition
