Direct TV Noobie/ DVR R-15

I switched from Dish and Direct TV will install my systen on 12/11/06. Since choosing the DVR R-15, I have read many negative reviews about this unit and wonder whether I should rethink my choice while I still have the chance. I have never had a dvr/tivo and do not want to have a problem-plagued dvr unit installed. Any comments/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've have had 2 r15's for 3 months now. No problems here to speak of.

If you need HD go with the HR20-700 HD DVR it is MPEG4 capable, ready for the future programming, will have OTA soon.

No problems with it, been using it since September.

The biggest problems for both units seem to be in those that have a lot of series links, recordings based on searches, etc.

I just go to a program in the guide and hit "record" and have no real problems with my 3 R15s or my HR20.
