Due to the $200 rebate, I am trying to find out anyone who has had Direct in the past with a 42" or larger HD TV--what is the SD PQ?

If you've seen Dish, how does it compare to that?

How did it compare to VOOM SD PQ?

I am specifically asking re: large-screen 42 or larger, as I have a 42" Sony Wega LCD Projector and I am having trouble finding a retailer in my area who has a demo set up with that large a screen with Direct!

They are comparable... both are compressed... I have an Hitachi 43" set and they both look bad...Some channels are worse than others... SciFi on both looks fairly decent, Soapnet on D* about same (I guess they don't want to piss off soap fans) Don't know about V* as never had...

V sd was very good. D was ok, although the receiver i bought for hd was horrible.

I had Voom and DirecTV side by side for long months until this year and DTV was usually far worse in SD - minus the channels were already compressed as hell, blocky as an old Roman road on both provider...
