Sorry to post a message with what might seem like a grumble about DirecTV and its online account system, but it isn't what you might call a great system! Also why do they insist on using call centers that can't actually do anything to help you and are staffed by people who barely speak English and who use really incredible false names.

Anyway, the real meat of the message is this: We changed our bank account a month ago, and for some reason the billing system they use appears to have charged our old bank account not the new one.

We have our debit card (new account), set up as the way to pay the bill, but the old bank account is still showing up in the account settings online. There isn't a button to remove any bank account, only a button to add a new account.

I really do NOT want to have to call an Pakistani can't-help desk/"call center" to see if they can remove the wrong bank account from the account... is there another way to contact them (email?) to have the old account removed?

Thanks.

Every time I've ever called DirecTV (as recently as last week) the call has been answered by somebody right here in the good old U.S.A. Give them a call you might just be surprised.

It seems to me to depend on what time of the day you call as to whether you get a 'local' support person or not. It also seems to depend what sort of problem you're having, with non-technical, unknown, or obscure matters seeming to go to the people who arent working from a script.

My favorite thats similar to your situation is when I set myself up for auto payment from my credit card. On the next billing date, they charged my card a day later than the bill was due and then added a late payment fee.

I had to spend 15 minutes on the phone with "Bob" from India explaining that I shouldnt be charged a late fee because directv billed my credit card a day late. He never 'got it' and ended up giving me a credit for it out of the goodness of his heart because he was tired of arguing with me about it.

That having been said, I think all account changes involving things like credit cards and bank accounts have to be done by phone, not email. And getting them to let go of a card or account can be challenging, because they want to make sure they have somewhere they can charge or debit for any termination fees you incur so they dont have to wait for you to pay a bill manually.

Yeah... but a bank account that is closed?

I guess I'll have to call :(

I have the exact opposite experience to you...
