DirecTv DVR Setup Question

I've heard it's possible to setup a DirecTv TIVO DVR box using a wireless network instead of a landline. I bout one of these boxes and tried to hook it up to my wifi network but got nothing and when I called DirecTV they kind of skirted the issue (but ultimately said it couldn't be done). Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The DirecTv Tivo box doesn't support it, the Tivo Series 2 does.
