Hi there, I'm not entirely familiar with Directv terminology so bear with me here.

Getting installed right now. I'm getting a HR-54 from what I've been told.

I have one 4k tv. The guy seems extremely reluctant about putting 4k clients in the house. The Hopper I have now is on the 4k tv while the joeys are on the 1080p tvs.

Installer says that the main receiver cannot be on the 4k tv. He says that the main receiver will not display 4k content so it needs to be on another tv. I really prefer the main receiver to be on the 4k tv. Is this all correct? I am so confused right now.

Can anyone tell me what the frick is happening here? Does any of that make sense? Thank you.

That is correct Only the C61k client can output 4K The Main unit does not with Directv

Thanks guys. There was an issue with the service order so the install had to be rescheduled.

Now I'm confused. My HR54 is connected to port 1 of he SWM switch through the power inserter. Its HDMI output connects to an AV receiver input. I thought the C61K was to be connected to port 2 of the SWM switch and its HDMI output connected to another input on my AVR

Where is your C61k connected?

4k programming on DTV is minimal. Maybe some sports events and PPV, if that is important to you. You would have to put the 4k mini on the main 4k TV and put the main GENIE dvr on the non 4k TV. It doesn't look like the cable channels will switch to 4k anytime soon.

I’m still having trouble understanding why if the C61K is installed on my 4K Sony, my HR54 has to be installed on a non-4K tv.

Why can’t I feed both boxes to 2 separate HDMI inputs on my AV receiver which feeds the 4K Sony TV.?

You can, assuming the avr passes the 4k signal correctly. How will you feed the non 4k set?

You can ...
They just never mention that.

The 4k mini gets its input from the Genie and then outputs to your 4k tv. The Genie can be placed anywhere because you don't have a second TV to connect to.
The mini and the Genie both connect to a splitter or swm switch.
