Yeah I'm shocked Discovery hasn't came up with new plans for the channel. Wonder how long the contract with Ophra is?

I forgot I signed up on the other site for a notification on new HD channels until they sent one today.

Ya, all providers need to stop charging more for HD and save money by dumping SD duplicate feeds.

Please excuse my ignorance but why do they need duplicate SD and HD feeds? I get OTA channels and the same channel comes in in HD on my HD set and in SD on my SD set via a digital converter. Why can't Directv set it up that way and do away with duplicate channels altogether?

Many customers are sd only and don't have mpeg4 boxes, which is necessary to decode the hd signals.

Because all the SD only receivers have to be replaced with HD receivers before the SD feeds can be shut down, and there are still tons of people out there with a 18 inch dish and a tube tv.

Since NASA is already MPEG4 Ka band, I wish they would get some common sense and change it to the HD version.

Also, why not throw up some of the extras like HSN HD and QVC HD on 110...

Because nobody gives a flying crap about HSN and QVC in HD.

HSN and QVC could just be bumped up to like 4 Mbps in mpeg4. It would look better than it does now but not take up as much space as a 1080i channel. Instead maybe do them as well as other lower priorities like CSpan's , etc.. like 1024x720 or something.

Better than 320x240 1.5 Mbps mpeg2 anyway.
