Well its been 4 months now an I am still having this problem! I did get my 5 LNB dish. The pixilation is hapening all the time now, my signal strength is like 92% I have not called them at all lately I am actual tired of calling them.... I wish I could get help on here to get away from direct TV without paying the fee!

I will look at E* again after my 2 year contract is up!

1. If you have multiple receivers, does it pixelize on all of them?
2. Is it from the satellite signal or OTA signal, or both, you are getting it?
3. Is it only on certain channels?

It is only the one TV witch is my most watched, That is my HDTV; The channels are HDNET ,TNT, DSHD, HDNM, UHD, ESPH, My local HD station, its everything... I thing its most the HD stations! If it isn't the pixel it is the sound the lips seem to be off sometimes to!

I don't know its just very irritating

You didn't really answer the question, "Do you have multiple receivers?". If you do and it is only one reciever that it is going it on, it could be a bad coaxial line between the antenna and the receiver, or a bad receiver itself.

Does the signal strength vary any, during the periods of pixelation?

I had the exact problem on my HI-DEF TV - unplug your unit for 15 seconds then replug it back in. I called Directv about this and that's what they told me - i was unsure about it, but it did work. couldn't hurt to try. :hatsoff:

Freeze Frame and Pixelation is usually a dish pointing problem. Remember it's Digital Signal it's either there or not there, a break in the line would result in a searching for satellite message.

1 check your signal strength on the 101 and the 119 Sats.

If you could post them, that would be great.

I have 3 receivers I is the H20 and the other two are just regular ones.

On the regular TV NOT my HDTV the numbers are

119 (A)

17-24: NA NA NA NA NA 100-97-92
25-32: 92-95-93-93-65-94-0-95

101 (A)

1-8: 91-88-90-94-90-93-91-92
9-16: 89-91-88-95-91-94-91-91
17-24: 88-79-89-97-91-93-92-93
25-32: 91-43-88-99-93-93-88-92

But that TV is not giving me any problems!

On My H20 that is connected to my HDTV the numbers are:

101 (A)

1-8: 75-71-72-71-72-77-73-73
9-16: 72-75-71-76-74-77-72-73
17-24: 71-59-71-80-74-75-74-75
25-32: 72-39-71-91-76-77-71-74

119 (B)

17-24: NA NA NA NA NA 77-80-78
25-32: 71-81-77-77-51-80-0-82

and that is the TV that is giving me the problems, Note all of my wires have been changed and receiver to!

Nope not yet, but I have hit the red button before in the past!

From what I have read, from postings, the H20 receivers signal strength meters normally read lower than other receivers, as far as signal strength, but it is normal. I don't have a H20 yet, but I do have a H10 and a HTL-HD and they read differently. In other words 75% on one can be the same as 90% on the other. Just the way the signal strength meter is built.

It would be interesting if someone has multiple H20s, from different manufacturers. If they could tell us how they read, one versus the other on the same channel. Example H20 - 100 channel 73 vs H20 - 500 channel 73.

My installer used a tone meter. not a meter to evaluate each satellite so the channels on 101 were pixelated. I had to tweak it myself to get 101 into the 70%. It was in the 40% !!

the H20 rec, will read 20 lower on any given transponder, because the signal strength on the H-20 is 70 and 71 on some transponders, i suggest repointing the dish, i don't see an ODD and EVEN problem usually associated with : bad cable, bad LNB or bad multi-switch. For what it is worth, i am an HSP Tech. meaning i have to do alot of service calls on a day to day basis, normally your area HSP's get all the service calls and 75% of the installs. Sorry, just wanted mention that so you wouldn't think i was some kind of hack.

Do you have three HD recievers? I have four recievers only one HD and a 3 lnb dish and I don't have a problem with a very non standard installation. Perhaps you have a bad reciever (Assuming it is your only HD reciever)?

I thought about the multiswitch? Perhaps that might be bad?

if it was the multiswitch, all recs would have the same problem, have you forcefed the download? the only thing i can say is "call D*'

If your signal strentgh stays constant yet you are still having pixelation you might want to check the quality of the cable, connections and any barrels from your lnb to your receiver or from your switch to your receiver. Because of the frequency range of the 5 lnb system, some cabling that worked fine on a basic dish or even a triple sat dish can have intermittant problems with the HD signal. Run a temp line directly from dish or switch to receiver. Dont rule out the possibility of a bad lnb or receiver. S.E.M.
