OK, we're two days from launch and this thread has blown into D* vs. E*, which is not the intent.

Rather than moving stuff to the warzone, lets do this:

Take the D* vs E* fight to the warzone.

This weeks looks like only 2 showtimes, planet green, and abc family in HD with 12 RSNs going full time, and about 20 PPVs as temporary placeholders. In the next few weeks to months is when we expect much more.

I know other people have posted (some in the know) about the 20 or so ppv. I find it hard to believe that many hd ppv will be launched Thursday. Most subs will not understand that they are simply place holders and will begin to question how Direct counts the hd to get to 130. I really beleive we will see some nice surprises Thursday.

Again, only temporary until other channels become available. I rather have them make money of these empty channels in the meantime than simply leave them blank. Even in the test status they are labeled as temporary PPVs. This has been said for the last couple of weeks. It has been confirmed that it is only temporary.

I wonder if Direct were to simply leave them blank and only add these 4 if they would hear leas complaints?

I personally doubt they'll throw up 20 more PPV.

There is a good chance we could see other channels that were unannounced.

Also, there will be some PPV, estimates were around 5 a week ago.

Nothing says they have to light every transponder to full right now, though they did say they would have 130.

I hope you're right, Id like to see Travel and AMC.

Really though, people dont realize that there is not much left worth adding. Im waiting on Nov and my HD lils. Ill prob do away with my diplexers and OTA.

I hadn't seen the latest from PSmith, it showing 12 PPV is more than I hoped to see added.

Also, nothing but what was already announced.

Disappointing.

I'm not sure what the OCC channels are, but my guess would be occasional, maybe used for PGA, olympics, or something like that. Perhaps even prep for NFL-ST.

Either way, Thursday may be disappointing. I had hoped they were just holding their cards a little close to the vest with everything going back and forth right now.

I understand. Customer service wise it is probably not very smart on their part. Financially in the meantime it may not be a bad idea. If they are labeled as "Temporary PPV" as opposed to "PPV" in the guide, then the subs may be a little more forgiving? One can only hope.

OCC = Occupied. IOW, hidden, Internal, or already existing channels that they are testing.

I remember when MOJO was being tested on Dish. It is still a no show. NO ONE had a clue that Travel Channel hd was going to be on Dish until Dish annouced it themeslves.
