Hi All,

I have above mentioned sat receiver ( I know it's older ) and I don't have a DirecTV subscription. Can this unit be used as an off the air digital signal receiver? If so, how do I get it from the "Welcome, powering up...," ( seems to be stuck on this screen ), to the Welcome screen?

That was a SD Directv receiver it only recorded the Directv digital signal. That receiver will only record when authorized by Directv so it's only use is on an active Directv system.

Thanks boba,

You're right, I did read the manual and understood that I can not record with it with out a DirecTV sub. However, the unit does have a 'cable/antenna' RF input and was wondering if that could be used for over the air digital signal reception? The user's manual was not clear on this issue. Thanks.

That input is only used as a passthru of a cable or OTA signal. Usually used when a TV set only has an RF input. It acts like an RF switch when the DVR is put into standby.
