EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb 12, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- DIRECTV, Inc., the world's most popular television service, continues to expand its International programming platform with the addition of a new, exclusive 24-hour Chinese channel, Charming China. Available only on DIRECTV's International programming platform to customers nationwide beginning Feb. 12, Charming China provides the newest and most popular Mandarin entertainment programs from nine popular provincial channels in China.

Charming China integrates a great diversity of programs such as entertainment news, talent shows, celebrity interviews, musical programs, and art programs to meet the lifestyle and demands of the overseas Chinese viewers. DIRECTV audiences will be the first to watch the latest episodes of their favorite programming produced by Hunan TV, Beijing TV, Jiangsu TV and other top-rated Chinese TV stations on Charming China.

DIRECTV's programming philosophy of giving viewers quality entertainment is reflected in the choice of content for Charming China. Only the top-rated shows from the most renowned provincial stations were selected. Some of the programming highlights include:

Day Day Up (Hunan TV æ-å-èi'è-): A talk show featuring Chinese traditional etiquettes and proprieties, premiered in August, 2008, on Hunan TV. First idol group of boy hosts ever. It's a public morality themed talk show.

Happy Base Camp (Hunan TV æ-å-èi'è-): It is one of the longest running entertainment variety shows in China. This award winning TV program is hosted by five young, popular hosts, He Jiong, Li Weijia, Xie Na, Du Haitao and Wu Xin, called by Happy Family as a group.

Bravely Forward (Hunan TV æ-å-èi'è-): A breathtaking challenge show featuring all big stars and famous faces. A lot of people do. D* is big with Chinese viewers. Go into Chinatown and you'll see tons of D* dishes attached to buildings. I may even look into this seeing as my in-laws (from China) are staying with us for the next few months.
