I would think that it would encourage another competetor to come along to compete against the merged DirecTv and Dish if that were to happen because it would give people another choice. It may be very hard for another company to compete against a merged company such as Dish Direct.

Except that they would be at a cold start against a combined provider with some 25+ million subs already in the bag; no upstart in the same market category would stand a chance.

Oh OK; without a quote I had no idea what or who you were commenting too.

That was not my guess, it was my idea of what I wouldn't mind seeing them do, and about the only thing I can foresee the government even thinking about ever allowing; they will not allow, at this point, a singular DBS provider for the CONUS.
