Looking at the diagram for having 8 LNB's through 2 diseqc switches and an ecola 22k switch, is there enough voltage there to power everything or is an external power source needed to power everything?

This should only power the LNB you are using at the time. It doesn't require a lot more power for more LNBs in this simple switching scheme.

The Ecoda 22k switch will pass power to both ports at all times, in some arrangements powering up un needed lnb's. Probably not a problem for most FTA receivers though. The other switches power only one port at a time.

It is in the Switches Simplified FAQ because a lot of people use the design.
Most everything there is reasonably conservative, and well tested.

You won't see Ku motors being powered through switches, even though a few members do that, too. :)

Thanks for the replies. Got some switches here finally and going to start to do some playing around.
