I would like to use Dish 500 Plus for 118.7 only. I will be using output marked 1F(for 118.7). My question is do I need to use DP34 switch? Can I connect my receiver( Solo 311) directly to the dish?
Thanks.

If you have the older style LNB (with 2 separate outputs) you do need to combine them with a DP21 or the DP34
The receiver needs to see 119 even if you just sub to Internationals.

118.7 doesnt have the EPG (last I checked) and software updates are not on 118.7

Ice is right. Having only 118.7 is not ideal because it does not carry any software updates, and also does not carry the guide information. The minimum I would recommend is 119 and 118.7.

Ice and Matt thanks for you replies. I will use a switch. My goal is to have best reception on 118.7. Any thoughts on what my skew(if any) should be? My zip is 30043.

Because you are using in essence the same satellite (118.7 & 119 are pretty much same spot) and since its circular polarity skew is not needed
Now if you were going to put 110 in the bunch then skew is needed

If you want to skew it, the dish should be skewed to 127
Elevation: 38.8°
Azimuth (magn.): 231.4°
Dish Skew [?]: 127.0°

If you dont want 110 then the numbers change a little because you wont skew the dish

Elevation: 35.9°
Azimuth (magn.): 236.0°

Thanks, and I will not be using 110. I will use 119 only because EPG and software download are on it.

Getting Ready to Add 118.7 to a True Focus 1.8M

Interesting thread and timely. My Dish Pro dual band LNBF just arrived from Ebay along with a DP34. I now have different disnes on 110 and 119, the latter is 1.8M. I will modify the DP dual band LNBF to fit on my dish, and may need to remove the scalar rings and replace them with a custom machined assy. designed for a high F/D large diameter antenna. If I have to do this, I will cut apart an old LNB and machine to fit. My guess that the DP LNBF from a 500+ system will work good on my 1.8 but may work better with new rings. The big dish will receive 119 and 118.7

Place your bets now, results will be known by the weekend.
