They make it so difficult for people down here in the states. Why can't they just do it like they do in Canada and let you get the nets from one coast to the other (or at least one set from each time zone)!

Oh...that's right. It's has to do with money. "If I get locals from another market, then my local channels will go out of business." :rolleyes:
Considering what's happened in Canada, that's not far from the truth...

As it is, the reason for the differences, is because in Canada almost all affiliates are owned & operated by the networks. In the U.S. though, most affiliates are not.

Eastern & Central are always shown at the same time (prime time...8PM EST and 7 CST)..thats why when they show ads for the shows it always says "9PM 8 Central" as example
Mountain in most cases starts at 7:00 local time
Pacific is 8PM local time

so in the Mountain & Central time zones, the "normal" local news is at 10:00 whereas the coasts its at 11:00
