D* has their usual "buy NFL ST for 300 bucks and get 5 months of premium for free" promotion right now but it includes HD (for life)
They are running a ridiculous (creatively) TV spot shouting about five free months, but at the end a title comes up saying..."when you buy NFL Sunday Ticket.
I think people forget that Dish charges less for programming than Directv or Uverse... or anyone else really, so they do need to probably make up for that elsewhere... and they do so via equipment fees.
I just looked at my bill.
I have 2 (612) 2 (211)
612 =$10
211 =$14 ($7x2)
So if you have an extra 722 is it $17 per month? ($10 + $7)
Seems that your better off with 612 and a 211 so you can have HD on both sets not only on one and pay the same price.
My sister has to have Sunday ticket and watched dtv install today at their new house that mult room DVR feature is pretty darn cool.

I actually have Uverse as well. I have a bundled deal. Cell, phone and internet.
We took it to possibly replace dish. I did not do it because they have stream limitations.
They are very competitive, Lots of HD. Pricing is good. 99 dollars U450 gets you
everything-all premiums, all programming.
The knock was that Uverse HD quality was a notch below satelite.
Not so anymore.
I would say Uverse might be better HD wise over Dish. On par with Direc or slightly below them.
Uverse is catching up..
If you went to D*, to get the same functionality you would need a total of 4 receivers, which would be an equipment cost of $15 vice the $17 you are paying now. Dish's subscriptions are more than $2 cheaper than D*s and you get more national HD channels and the HD Platinum is worth something on E*, but D*'s is just a waste of money.

In September I'll add Multi-sports for NFL Redzone & College footbal and change out the 625 for a 612. That will drop the equipment fee to $10, but add $6 for the Multi-sports.
D* cannot match that price after the promos are finished.
From strictly a dollars and sense standpoint, E* will be cheaper unless you have more than 2 HDDVR Duos.

I think that depends on whether they have the programming you want at a price that fits you better.
Here we have Mediacom, and I did consider switching to them. The price for the bundle is $75/month for 15mb internet, phone and tv W/Starz, and 2nd year $25 higher. It requires a 2 year commitment and they can raise the rates during the commitment.
While their HDDVR sucks, a real VOD somewhat mitigates.
But in the end, the total cost wouldn't be all that much cheaper for what I wanted to get after equipment fees and taxes (none on satellite in Ill.).
I'll stick with E* for a bit longer...
I shopped D* a little bit, and found they would not be any cheaper after promo's also. I think it would have even been more than E*. They also don't offer the redzone channel without the sunday ticket. I have cablevision for cable, which doesn't offer redzone or nfl network, and no uverse or fios anywhere in the near future for my area, so I signed up for HD for life with E*, and went with another 2 year contract.
Iv'e had D*, Iv'e had cablevision, and now have had E* for the last 1.5 years. I was really happy with E*, until they put these stupid equipment fee's on my bill. They were at least $20 cheaper than my cable, but now are catching up. They all nickle and dime you to death, and love to raise your bills, but in the end for me, E* is giving me the most bang for my buck right now.
Just don't call TWC and subscribe, call them and/or see them at their booth at a special event or festival. Thats what I did last year, and they gave me the equivalent of A250, (about a 100 hd channels) with a hd-dvr and and an additional hd receiver, bundled with my high speed roadrunner for year 1 @ $85 and year 2 @ $95, price guaranteed and no required commitment contract on my part.
I cant stand TWC...use to have it when I lived in town house and It would take me forever to get a hold of someone with there customer service...then when you do get a hold of someone you are transferred a thousand times and given the run around...it may be for you but I had a horrible experience with TWC and the biggest factor was the customer service...

I had 250 plus hbo and was paying almost 120 bucks so I decided to go to the AEP package and it doesnt cost me that much more to get all the channels...looking to get nfl redzone too during football season
Yep, they do have things done just the right way to make AEP a pretty good deal if you want all the movie channels. I had T250 and 2 premiums, and I think when all the dust settled, it made sense to go to AEP for just a few bucks more.

So, I signed up for Dish in November. Since that time, my bill has slowly increased every month (and this doesn't include my promotions wearing off). Within just a few months, my channel package has gone from $51.99 to $54.99. My receiver fee has probably doubled. I'm getting some sort of bizarre credit on my bill. I don't know what it's for, but it's now less than the previous credit I was getting for having my second received hooked up. HBO and Showtime have gone up $2.00 per month. I've lost HD channels because Dish cannot cut a deal with Disney or whoever and I've got more garbling and tiling than when everything was installed. I really like the channels and like my DVR. However, the constantly increasing price and declining number of channels just leaves a real sour taste in my mouth. I'm actually starting to think I should have stayed with Cox cable. Unless something changes, I am definitely going to be leaving Dish after my two year agreement expires.

You would think that something would eventually have to give and Dish Network would rise from the ashes and be the service we all want it to be. Best prices, Best PQ, Best Everything. Surely this bad time can't go on forever.......Can It?
