Dish messing with Voom, All are now HD-Lite 1280x1080i: Discuss this issue HERE!

The sad thing is the customers are the ones losing right now. The ones that paid alot of money to support a up and coming technology. Then we get sh*t on. I don't have any desire to get a MPEG4 box now and I really don't have near as much drive to preticipate in this forum and I think alot of others feel the same. Nothing against anyone but I think that the excitement of Satellite HD is gone and dead. I feel the forums that concentrate on OTA and BluRay/HD DVD content is where the people will be rushing.

Wow you read my mind!! OTA and High DEF DVD both formats!!!:up

Dish will have all mpeg2 HD at 1280x1080i ASAP, there is no doubt about this, that is why I am looking to dump right now

Dish is headed for HD-Lite and there is no ?'s about it

what happened to all this talk of sticking up against HD-Lite at CES, sounds to me like a bunch of ass-kissing went on ??

bottom line is that very few folks agree with the very few of us, who wish to stand up for quality, I am not fighting it anymore, what is done is done and Dish has made their bed

I have liked your posts since the first time i have read them!! I also totally agree with you!! I am not in any contract i have paid lot's of money for TV's ,Dish equipment and programming. Three HDTV'S getting another i have three Hd receiver's. I did get the first one on a year contract with dish. I have two HD dvr's and one 811 now. I am tired of spending money on quality and not getting it. I am tired of hopes and dreams of HD with dish. All i see is locals in BFE and Ethnic or non English programming. YA YA i know alot will say its just TV or Dish did not make you buy all that stuff. You are right but they sure told me they are going to be the LEADER and HAVE the BEST quality. I bought two 942's because of a tech chat and now i need to spend more money and for less resolution and more money because times are ruff for dish.. They have no room huh??:up I upgraded to there dish 1000 so i could get the explosion of 21 extra channels at 1920 by 1080! Well again this is not going to happen. Now Monday dish is going to do right by me and allow me to send in my bought and paid for equipment so i can rent some from them:confused: Yea i know alot of people like to rent but i don't like to be told i have to sub to any certain package if i don't want to. even though i used to sub to Aep, HD, supers, locals, Latino, and pay for there insurance. The only thing i have cut back on is Latino but now its time to shut dish off for good.

Sorry for the long rant but just needed to say something.

Agreed on SatGuys apparent lack of a stand at CES, which is unbelievable compared to statements leading up to it. (and thank god we got that all important answer to the nail-biting concerns as to Howard Stern's status on Dish Network...sounded like even Charlie couldn't believe the question)

Unfortunately, the idea of dropping Dish HD packages in protest just isn't feasable for some of us unless we want to throw a large chunk of $$$ to play that game. Yes, I am pissed off enough to chew through some nails by the events of the past 2-3 months. In my situation, I have a leased 811 and a leased 942. If I drop the HD Pack, I have to return those. Drop just the VOOM pack you say? Why bother...acording to the new packages, it'll be force fed to us in less than a month now anyways, so that doesnt accomplish anything.

If I want HD, my only other option is DirectTV, which is no better. Local cable is NOT an option. The local cable company redefines the phrases "inept", "monopoly", "stuck in the 80's", etc. The one time I tried them for HD, it wasn't that the channels were downrezzed, the problem was that I couldnt get a strong enough signal to even LOAD A DAMN PICTURE on the channel...and the end was that they really didnt care to fix the problem. On top of that, if it did work, they dont carry but a couple of the locals in HD, and their boxes won't accept OTA integration. FIOS in this city? Dont make me laugh.

SO...that leaves me stuck with Dish Network. If I drop HD Pack, I lose everything, and likely have to pay to get SD boxes to replace the HD boxes I return. Then if I want to pick back up Dish HD-lite, I'm sure I'd have to pay full price for any of the 622, or 211 to get back to HD-lite viewing. It's not like Dish gives a damn that any of us want full resolution, so what makes any of you think a "protest" will change their minds? After Scott's apparent endorsement (which I truely hope wasn't what actually happened), we would just be a "rogue" element against the "board's opinion", instead of a united voice against it. Besides, it's obvious the whole VOOM protest did a lot of good. They just toyed with us with all the "we're going to fix it", and "wait till CES" emails, and then stepped on us by doing absolutely nothing.

So, in other words, I dont have much choice but to take whatever drivel that throw at us. As the old saying goes "Cutting off my nose to spite my face..."

Considering that inept cable company also controls all phone services - we're stuck with no viable TV or Internet competitive options.

I'm in the same boat, but I'm stuck with D* with no other options, or hope for options down the road.

Just dropped down from AEP to AT60 and had the $5 transaction fee waived due to the Lifetime situation - we have basic cable so my wife can see her channels on the weekends. We were going to drop down to AT180 after the holidays (not much time for TV watching until the summer), but the Lifetime issue caused us to drop down to AT60. There are handful of channels everyone has to have and Lifetime was one of them for our family.

Because of E*'s MPEG-4/HD-Lite position, the 942 we purchased for Christmas has been packed and is ready to be returned Monday morning. We'll keep AT60 w/HD-Pak and VOOM-Pak through our contract in early May and review our alternatives at that time. We'll also save another $5 per month on our monthly bill since we sent back a 811 receiver when we purchased the 942 - we'll just watch OTA and basic cable on that set in the interim.

We're voting our displeasure with our programming dollar. Dish currently has two and 1/2 strikes against them in our home: strike one is Lifetime (although the wife said Dish Network has struck-out), strike two and 1/2 is the MPEG-4 upgrade/HD-Lite situation. We'll just enjoy what we what choices we have available in May. Hopefully, FiOS continues to roll-out more services in our area and makes other video providers take notice.

I don't know if we were sold out or not, I don't think I would personally go that far just yet

Have you read this yet? http://www.satelliteguys.us/showpost.php?p=441990&postcount=14

I would show up to CES in a STOP HD-Lite t-shirt & hat, have my lawyer hand E* a summons for false advertising, and then slap Charlie in the face with a cream pie. I would be escorted out, spend the night in jail, then tell my story to the local paper and be happy with every minute of it. All in the name of High Definition.

Hammer

Yes Tom I saw that, it is truely over, Dish has set into motion quantity over quality and there is nothing we can do about it now

There are effective things that can be done but I'm not sure these groups have the balls to do them.

Sometimes you have to be willing to sacrifice short term to gain long term. I agree it won't have much effect if only a few do it but if enough of us had the balls, we might be able to accomplish something.

If every HD sub would do this but as a block and with a unified statment of why, then it might do some good.

Ahh but just imagine the scene Tuesday when someone pokes their head into Chuck's office and says we've just had 10k customers cancel their HD package in the past 4 hours and they're all demanding a refund on their HD receivers. Just imagine it :neener take that charlie

Can someone please check the bitrate on RushHD during the live broadcast?

when's a live HD broadcast going to be on Rush Ilya ??

on a separate note, everyone should pay the site some dough and checkout a bombshell on mpeg4 in the Pub area

It's very difficult to donate money to a user supported site which does not share all communications except those for administrative functions.
