PROGRAMMING

· Programming Package Changes: As previously noted, you will begin to notice new branding on each of our basic programming packages. Effective February 1, 2004, we will begin offering America’s Top 60, America’s Top 120 and America’s Top 180 programming packages.
· Pricing Changes: Due to rising programming costs, we will be changing the prices on some of our programming packages. These changes are a result of increased programming costs that are passed on to DISH Network. We have worked very hard to minimize the impact on our customers. The good news is that the average increase to America’s Top Programming Packages is less than a buck which is less than the current rate of inflation! We are confident that DISH Network is the best value in TV with the highest quality programming at the lowest possible price. Our basic package of America’s Top 60 will still be guaranteed at $24.99 a month until January 31, 2005. Thanks for the info.

How does one validate the last four digits of a SSN without providing the whole number? :)

JL

They run a credit report based on your address and such and can verify the last four digits.

"The following receivers are eligible in the DHA promotion as the primary receiver: (New or reconditioned units) 322, 311, 111, 522, 510 and 811s. Keep in mind, there is a limit of:
o Four tuners
o Four receivers
o One DISH Player-DVR 522
o Two DISH 811s"

Is there an "upgrade fee" for a new customer getting two 811's on the DHA?

I guess I always thought the "Plus" in AT60 Plus included the locals.

Basically the PLUS = LOCALS.

However that doesn't seem to be the case as described in the initial post.

Can somebody tell me what the PLUS means?

I have 4 choices on programming:

AT##
AT## Plus
AT## w/Locals
AT## Plus W/Locals

Plus is the Fox Sports channels (usually $5.99 by itself). You save $1 on the package plus another $1 when you take the locals (usually $5.99 by itself) with it for a total of $2 in savings.

AT60 w/locals = $29.99
AT60 w/locals and sports = $34.99

You used to have to purchase AT100 (now AT120) in order to purchase the sports pack but now you can order it if you have AT60 with the locals and save $1.

not quite

AT60 plus is AT60 plus your local RSN (or RSN's) depending on your area. It does not include all of them. That is 5.99 extra

example...MN on AT60 would get FSNorth..I can add the others for $5.99 more. It does seem goofy that people wouldnt take AT100 (or 120) because for $4 or $5 you get all the extra channels in 120.

o Four tuners
o Four receivers
o One DISH Player-DVR 522
o Two DISH 811s

Two Dish 811's... Lets see....so if you order in January...they'll be installed in...say...March? :shocked

:no

AT-60 Plus w/locals = $34.99 ($40.98 with sports pack)
AT120 - - - w/locals = $39.99 ($45.98 with sports pack)
AT180 - - - w/locals = $49.99 ($55.98 with sports pack)

All of these without the sports package gets the regional sports package. Things are really starting to add up now if you want locals and sports. $55.98 without any premium movie packages although you get them some movie channels in the AT 180 package.

Sorry if I missed this posted somewhere else in here, but does anyone know what the additional channels they are adding will be? Looks like they are adding ten to the lowest package and 20 to the others?

I don't believe they are adding any, just renaming the package since it already has more channels than the name indicates.

Not adding any, just renaming the packages. They already had more channels in them than stated, so DISH is just reflecting the correct number in the name.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot of people asking what channels were added especially since there is a price increase going along with the package name change.

The price increase was part of why I assumed there was an increase in the number of channels, but now that you guys explain it I guess this is par for the course from Dish, I feel like there should be a term for this kind of situation.... how about "I got Dish Networked on this deal buddy"

This is their way of trying to give a reason for a price increase when there really it isnt a reason, almost like misleading, only they didnt say this is why they increased the price, but it sure makes you think that when the programming name changes at the same time as a price increase.

I have more and more customers telling me they dont want this channel and that channel and they want another one put in place of it because of how high these packages are starting to get.

I know that Dish Network can put some of these channels in a package of their own, they just choose not to do so.

Don't forget next month they will add the B-I-N-G-O channel to go with the Reality channel they have all ready added along with some new shopping channels. Now doesn't that make you feel like you got your $3.00 worth in your AEP? :p

I hope they are not actually counting this as an actual channel, lol.
*I* am not. 2hrs of a 168hr week isn't enough. I also know of no intelegent person who counts barker channels. E* does need to count the PIs and shopping channels to get to the 60/120/180 marks.

AT60 = 72 channels including:
23 PIs (six require 61.5 or 148, nine require 110)
11 Shopping Channels (soon 13!, only four on 119)
Dish500 gives you 66 channels, Dish300 gives you 50!

Don't count the shopping channels and PIs and AT60 gives you 38 channels. To be fair, we should count the five major PIs and four major shopping channels. 47 channels.

JL

I am not going to count it as an actual channel either. What do they actually show on this channel when Bingo is not on? The Dish Barker channel?
