Dish Network Retailer Chat Recap - September 15th, 2011

Dish is launching a new package which contains 5 channels called the Heartland Package it contains Hallmark Channel, GMC, Pixl, Hallmark Movie Channel and RFD-TV. It is a ala carte package. Available October 1st for $5 a month. Pixel SD will be launching on or before October 1st. You can add it to the Welcome Package.

Now talking about the NFL Red Zone.

It would be interesting to see if Dish could back door a la carte with a bunch of small packages.

I wonder what would happen if they offered any channel in 200 or 250 for $1 a month to AT120 customers?

I am sure they have contracts in place which prevent them from doing that.

GMC = the old Gospel Music Channel which has changed focus a bit and is now GNC. It seems to happen to all cable/satellite channels.

It looks like they are going to make an upgrade to the 922 free for certain customers. Currently it has been a minimum of $200.

Yeah I saw that but didn't post it since most customers do not quality as a grade A customer. If your not a Grade A customer then the cost is still $200.

BTW we can't tell what a customers grade is, so please dont ask. :)

I am not asking what my grade is, but how do they determine what your grade is?

Also, I know that the 922 has an enhanced GUI, but is there really any advantage to having a 922 over a 722k w/sling?

Any word on the 813/110? Will there be a program for existing subs to get the whole house setup without it costing an arm and a leg?

OK. Does Dish plan to contact the chosen few with an offer, or just make it to the qualified among those calling in with an interest in the ViP922?

As I and others mentioned when Dish put the Hallmark Movie Channel in the Platinum package, the idea of these package add on's is a very good idea. The Platinum package from all accounts is a hit and the Sports package add on has become something more desirable. It comes closer to what some want, A La Carte, without having to charge a high price per channel. This particular $5 package may or may not be for everyone, but for those who do want those channels but don't want to or can't afford to upgrade to a higher package, this is a reasonable alternative.
