DISH Reaches Long Term Agreement with DISNEY / ESPN / ABC

All channels will be back in HD - even the ones that weren't in HD before.

Personally, I'm waiting for the soon to be launched Bluegrass Channel HD. :eureka: (or is that bluegras Channel HD?)

If find the bolded hard to believe. How can ABC (any network for that matter) GUARANTEE viewers to advertisers? Yes, they can show how many viewers a certain show had in the past and predict it will continue, but a "guarantee"? Sorry, don't believe it.

Very simple if a commercial spot does not deliver the needed number of viewers as determined by Nielsen the network has to run it again to meet the sold number of impressions. Now of course if everyone skips it on their DVR that is not taken into consideration. But, if it was known that the DVR was automatically skipping commercials, the audience numbers would be highly suspect.

But, it is not known if the DVR was skipping commercials, since that function has to be selected by the user, just as the skip button is.

Mike, there's two big problems with your logic...
1) Many (most?) commercials are sold to be run during a certain program. So if Doritos (for example) didn't get enough viewers for it's Super Bowl spot, Fox can't run the spot again during "The Simpsons".
2) There are 210 markets across the country. Only 56 of them are metered. Only the metered markets can supply "overnights" or anything close to real time ratings. For the other 154 markets, ratings results don't come in until ~a month and a half after the ratings period has ended. I think ratings actually start today. But the majority of locals won't know how many people watched the shows today until mid-April.

someone talked about about a mosaic of channels and i heard about a olympic app for sochi since the olympics start tommorow.we have to wait and see what the uplink report says.
