So I have this friend, right, and he is thinking about trading in his 811 for a 211, but he's a little confused about the receiver fee.

If I, I mean he, has one receiver on his account (the 811) and swaps it out for the 211, will he be charged a lease fee, or is the primary receiver fee still included the base price?

Current:
DIGITAL HOME ADVANTAGE WITH AMERICA'S TOP 60 AND 34.99
LOCAL 0.0
DISH NETWORK HD PACKAGE 9.99
(total 44.98)

After Upgrade?:
DISH'N IT UP WITH BRONZEHD 49.99
LOCAL 5.00
LEASED RECEIVER FEE 6.00
(total 60.99)

Also, has anyone heard if E* is still planning to switch current MPEG2 channels over to MPEG4 in 2007?

thanks!

Let's see... $245 for a ViP 211 from DishStore vs. $49 + $6/mo. for leasing the ViP 211 from Dish. Assuming your freind can sell his 811 for $75, that makes for a hardware break-even point somewhere around 20 months; sooner if he can get more for his 811. If he plans on sticking with Dish for more than two years, I'd buy the ViP 211 and sell the 811.
