DishNetwork Uplink Activity Report - 5/28/2008 1:34pm - 138 changes

As of last look, nope.

Still just placeholders.

I'm thinking about that, and I can't think of any good reason for those placeholders - other than to "make a statement" to SatelliteGuys.

They can't make them available as "TMP", so they would need another table change anyway.

And no real testing is going on if there is no video uplinked...

And once again Dish breaks their promise. The GR locals were to have been available in the second quarter of 2008.

Q1 January, February, March
Q2 April, May, June
Q3 July, August, September
Q4 October, November, December

They may not make the Q2 deadline, but Q2 isn't over for another month. :)

See ya

Doesn't Q1 start in November of the previous year to catch the Christmas season?

Edit - Here are the fiscal Quarters:

1st Quarter: October 1, 2007 – December 31, 2007
2nd Quarter: January 1, 2008 – March 31, 2008
3rd Quarter: April 1, 2008 – June 30, 2008
4th Quarter: July 1, 2008 – September 30, 2008

Each company can have it's own "quarters".

The one listed above (starting in October) is the one for Retail folks AFAIK.

well if they said FISCAL quarter, then this schedule would be correct.

But if they said Q2 08, then the standard Q2 April, May, June, would be correct.

I was checking the Austin SD locals and something doesn't add up...

digiblur's uplink report says that two of the Austin SD locals were "removed" from 119W

"8254 - KNVA (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Austin, TX)
8256 - KLRU (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Austin, TX)"

And JohnH's uplink report on that other forum says they were 'DEL" from 61.5W

"DEL 8254 KNVA MPEG4 SD Tp 5 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 54
DEL 8256 KLRU MPEG4 SD Tp 5 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 18"

which BTW makes a lot more sense. Surely Dish would not remove these two Austin SD locals from 119W when very few Austin DMA SD subs have a dish pointed at 61.5W.

And OBTW my ViP622 says that I am still receiving both of these these locals from 119W (Menu 6-1-1 while watching 8254 or 8256).

My gut (aka, a flat out guess) on why WKBW wasn't turned on is that since they are also controlling WNGS in that market, which is a RTN station, that they probably want WNGS uplinked as well.

You could obtain real tables and compare by yourself - ask Scott/Digi for that.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I have a Dish 1000.2 (129,119,110) and Dish 500 (61.5). So the only question is whether my ViP 622 is lying about where it is getting the signal for these two channels :)

Since we are not discussing a financial item it is unlikely that they would be referring to fiscal quarters.

Well...

If you want to use Fiscal quarters that's fine.

Let's take a look at Dish's Fiscal Quarters, shall we?

OK, ENOUGH with talking about what quarter belongs to who (or whom).
Responding to fz5j2r.... broken promise? Get used to it. Today they lit up Buffalo locals in HD. (Huzzah!). they were promised in 2006. So about 2010 you should MAYBE have your locals. Now, get over it.

:D

(tongue in cheek.... kidding.... not really being nasty... if I was you'd feel the 2x4 on the back of your neck...)

It is not the end of the world if my locals do not come "SOON". Having them available just adds to my options for recording.

I am enjoying my HD locals OTA in glorious high resolution, not the watered down signal we will get from DISH.

Could someone in the right DMA(s) confirm that the following Texas SD locals were not removed from 119/110?

"8254 - KNVA (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Austin, TX)
8256 - KLRU (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Austin, TX)
8258 - KAKW (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Killeen, TX)
8375 - KTXH (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Houston, TX)
8376 - KUHT (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Houston, TX)
8377 - KNWS (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Katy, TX)
8378 - KXLN (A) removed from EchoStar7 119W TP 07 Texas beam(Rosenberg, TX)
8379 - KTMD (A) removed from EchoStar10 110W TP 12 Spotbeam 16(SE TX) (Galveston, TX)
8380 - KFTH (A) removed from EchoStar10 110W TP 12 Spotbeam 16(SE TX) (Alvin, TX)
8381 - KAZH (A) removed from EchoStar10 110W TP 12 Spotbeam 16(SE TX) (Baytown, TX)
8382 - KTBU (A) removed from EchoStar10 110W TP 12 Spotbeam 16(SE TX) (Conroe, TX)
8384 - KZJL (A) removed from EchoStar10 110W TP 12 Spotbeam 16(SE TX) (Houston, TX)"

but were actually removed from 61.5 as in JohnH's uplink report...

"DEL 8254 KNVA MPEG4 SD Tp 5 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 54
DEL 8256 KLRU MPEG4 SD Tp 5 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 18
DEL 8258 KAKW MPEG4 SD Tp 5 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 62
DEL 8375 KTXH MPEG4 SD Tp 13 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 20
DEL 8376 KUHT MPEG4 SD Tp 13 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 8
DEL 8377 KNWS MPEG4 SD Tp 13 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 51
DEL 8378 KXLN MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 45
DEL 8379 KTMD MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 47
DEL 8380 KFTH MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 67
DEL 8381 KAZH MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 57
DEL 8382 KTBU MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 55
DEL 8384 KZJL MPEG4 SD Tp 9 Spot 13 Rainbow 1 61.5w UNAVAIL HIDE MAP 61"

You can check by selecting the channel then pressing Menu-6-1-1. The transponder in the point dish graphic is the one your receiver is using for that channel.

FWIW these channels have been on 110/119 for some time (along with the other SD locals in these DMAs) and were reported as uplinked to 61.5 (but unavailable) prior to this week's uplink reports.

Thanks in advance - Talon Dancer

Seriously... I understand what you mean. I've been getting my locals in HD OTA and since the satellite providers (EITHER of them) will never carry ALL of the locals in HD, I don't see the antenna going away. And you're right about having more recording options. I was just being a smart-a**

I did some switching back and forth last night between my OTA locals and the new Dish-delivered locals in HD and to be honest... I didn't see much (if any) difference. I will admittedly have to do that again when there is A.) more time to pay attention and B.) something decent in HD.

Could someone in the right DMA(s) confirm that the following Texas SD locals were not removed from 119/110?

Most likely a mistake on the report as I'm still working on some issues that seem to be causing other mistakes to pop up.
