Disney sets Marvel release dates through 2019

Did Stan Lee just hint at a studio effort to cross over the Marvel movies? http://mashable.com/2014/12/06/stan-lee-marvel/
Are the major Hollywood studios with rights to various Marvel Comics characters talking about a massive movie crossover? Though it may never happen, it would seem they've at least been noodling the idea — this according to none other than Stan Lee.The 91-year-old co-creator of Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Thor and just about every major Marvel character did a Q&A and book signing on Saturday with Roy Thomas (Lee's first successor as editor-in-chief at Marvel) and filmmaker Kevin Smith at the Hammer Museum to mark Marvel's 75th anniversary. At about the 53-minute mark (see video below), an audience member dressed in Captain America gear asked Lee whether we'll ever see Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Avengers — owned by Sony, Fox and Disney, respectively — come together onscreen.

5 Superheroes Who Shouldn’t Get Their Own Movie http://wallstcheatsheet.com/enterta...their-own-movie.html/?a=viewall#ixzz3NiKyzwwP
Nowadays, you can’t swing a cat without hitting a superhero franchise. Marvel has their slate of movies planned out through 2019, while DC has a similar timeline for their Justice League universe. The end result of this though is some heroes getting adapted to the big screen who have no business being there whatsoever. While most seem like smart choices, there are some heroes who should probably stay in the comic books where they belong. And of course we’re not talking the obscure, strangely powered characters no one’s ever heard of; we’re more concerned with comic mainstays Hollywood would be tempted to bring to the silver screen (or may already be planning on bringing).

7 Characters From the Ultimate Universe That Need To Exist in All-New Marvel https://games.yahoo.com/news/7-characters-ultimate-universe-exist-222200582.html
On January 20th, fans of the Ultimate Universe, or the 1610, got some bad news. It would be merging with the 616 universe and entering the land of Battleworld for the upcoming Secret Wars event. After the Secret Wars ends, there will be a whole All-New-Marvel to look forward to for fans. Luckily, it was stated that there will be some characters making it into this new Marvel age from some of our favorite universes. That got me thinking. I'm a huge fan of the Ultimate Universe and have really followed what's been going on for years now. There's some characters I've really grown fond of that I would hate to see disappear from comics entirely in the 1610. After fighting myself and debating who I need to see live on in this all new world of Marvel. I came up with a few of my favorite Ultimate characters that I want to see keep pushing on in the future.

Hulk's Actual Status At Marvel Studios Revealed http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Hulk-Actual-Status-Marvel-Studios-Revealed-72153.html
A couple months ago, actor Mark Ruffalo offered what seemed like a logical explanation for why Marvel Studios doesn't have plans for a second Hulk standalone movie. He told reporters that the studio didn't actually have the full rights to the character, calling Hulk "Universal's property," and that's what was preventing the company from creating a new project. As it turns out, Ruffalo was mistaken, and the details of the Marvel deal with Universal are actually much less strict than he suggested.
Forbes has published an extensive article about the future of Hulk at Marvel Studios, and in the article it's explained that Marvel Studios actually does have the full rights to make an Incredible Hulk sequel. According to the report, Universal Pictures' ownership of the comic book hero lapsed in 2005 when the studio failed to make any headway creating a sequel to Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk movie. The catch is that Universal still retains the right of first refusal when it comes to distributing any future projects about the giant green monster - but Marvel currently does have the capability to make sequels about the character.

Robert Downey Jr Got A HUGE Payday For Doing Just Two Marvel Movies http://news.yahoo.com/robert-downey-jr-got-an-huge-payday-for-doing-just-091950081.html
When two movies is enough to get you into the Forbes’ magazine celebrity rich list, you know it’s time to buy your agent that platinum Bentley with sable upholstery.Even though he’s only made ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and 'Captain America: Civil War’ in the past year, he’s still managed to haul in a staggering $80 million (£51 million). That puts him at number eight in the business bible’s annual celebrity rich list (it’s topped by Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao with a somewhat dwarfing $300m and $160m respectively). But he’s still streaks ahead of any other movie star on this year’s list. The next nearest is Jennifer Lawrence down at number 32, who earned a paltry $52 million (£33.5 million) over the same period. To say that Downey Jr has always been handsomely paid for his Marvel work is the very definition of understatement, particularly considering he’s not even the star of 'Captain America: Civil War’.His vast $40 million fee for threequel 'Civil War’ – we’re not sure how much poor Chris Evans is getting paid, but IMDB lists his salary for the first 'Captain America’ movie in 2011 as just $300,000 (£193,000) – was just the latest in a long line of mind-blowingly huge pay days for Downey Jr.

15 Avengers Who Will Never Be Featured in Marvel Movies http://screenrant.com/marvel-avengers-characters-movies/
The Avengers have a long and storied history in comics over the last half-century. The founding members of Iron Man, Thor, Henry Pym, Wasp and Hulk have all come and gone, but regardless of the team’s makeup, their larger-than-life heroism has remained a constant. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has capitalized on the team, building the entirety of Phase One around bringing the Avengers together. While the characters have enjoyed success in their solo adventures, the two Avengers movies have been the lynchpins of the universe, showing fans the full scope of what Marvel Studios is capable of.As with the comics, the Avengers’ roster is going to have to change eventually. The long history of the team offers many great alternatives for the producers to pick from. Unfortunately, for every great hero on the Avengers’ roster, there’s another that even Captain America can’t help but shake his head at.

5 of the Weirdest Marvel Character Origins http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertain...in-the-marvel-cinematic-universe.html/?ref=YF
Over the past several years, there has been a clear demand for a more serious, grounded, and darker twist on the superhero genre. And it certainly seems like that demand has been met by such films like The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and in many regards, the first Iron Man. Yet despite this desire for a more realistic superhero film, Marvel Studios has been very cautious about taking itself too seriously. It is, after all, making movies based off comic book characters with inherently ridiculous plot lines and powers.Marvel has proven to be extraordinarily skilled at keeping a relatable environment for its movies while being utterly fearless about the lore and backstories of many of its characters, no matter how bizarre or ridiculous. An origin story is a sacred thing for comic book characters, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has introduced more than one character with an extremely unconventional one. Here’s a look at some of the characters the studio has or soon will introduce into the MCU that have totally bizarre origins.

10 Actresses Who Would Be Perfect As 'Captain Marvel' http://tr.im/d2L3S
Marvel announced a whole slate of new movies coming out between now and 2019 on Tuesday, and one of them will be the studio's first feature superhero film with a female lead. "Captain Marvel" will focus on character Carol Danvers, the seventh to take the mantle after originally being known as Ms. Marvel. Danvers, who was officially given the title in a 2012 comic, is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe. For starters, she's a highly intelligent former Air Force pilot and really good at spying. She ends up working in the C.I.A. and then with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in S.H.I.E.L.D. Ultimately she meets the Kree alien Mar-Vell -- the first Captain Marvel -- and after an accident her human DNA is mixed with the Kree DNA, giving her powers that include flight, superhuman strength, a precognitive sixth sense and immunity to most poisons. She can also absorb energy and radiate it from her fingertips using her "Seventh Sense." Read more at: http://tr.im/d2L3S

4 Marvel and DC Characters Who Need a Movie Reboot http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertain...aracters-who-need-a-movie-reboot.html/?ref=YF
At the rate that movie studios are developing projects based on comic books, there are bound to be some cases where audiences are stricken with a well-placed case of déjà vu. After all, Hollywood is known for its tendency to return to characters and franchises that are recognizable by the masses. In just the last decade, the big screen has given moviegoers new versions of Batman, Spider-Man and, most recently, the Fantastic Four. Here are five characters that deserve to once again make the leap from page to screen for a new interpretation, listed in order of their introduction to comic book readers. For the record, we’re not including characters like Green Lantern, the Punisher and Lex Luthor, for whom new takes have already been announced.

Marvel is standing behind their controversial female superheroes http://hellogiggles.com/marvel-controversial-female-superheroes/
It’s not a stretch, or a surprise, to say that comics are definitely geared towards guys. The majority of comic superheroes are male, and the creators behind these comics are male. That’s just how the comic industry has been for the last fifty years, but slowly things are changing. Female superheroes who were previously underrepresented — without their own stand-alone issues — are moving towards the forefront. It’s awesome. Finally, things are starting to change, as Marvel and DC realize that girls read comics, too. This past year, Marvel has done a lot for their female superheroes. They not only introduced a brand new all-female Avengers team (yes), but also brought us Ms. Marvel, the first Muslim superhero (YES). Oh, and then they made Thor a woman, too, when Jane Foster — who you’ll know from the Thor movies — picked up the hammer one day, and became worthy enough to wield it (!!!). It’s these last two changes to the Marvel universe that have brought a little bit of controversy with them, but Marvel supports both these stories 100%.

DC Is Giving These Two Characters Their Own Movie, Get The Details http://www.cinemablend.com/new/DC-Giving-Two-Characters-Their-Own-Movie-Get-Details-83387.html
Although there’s been a lot of talk about whether the movies in the DC Extended Universe will be overly dark, Warner Bros has been trying to ease concern about this for a while now. It’s previously been said that fans can expect The Flash and Shazam to be more light-hearted stories (like their comic book counterparts), and now there may be a third film with a similar tone on the way. There’s word now that wacky superhero duo Blue Beetle and Booster Gold could lead their own cinematic adventure. The Tracking Board is reporting that Greg Berlanti, executive producer of DC shows Arrow, and Flash and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl, will direct and executive produce a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie. The project is being pitched as a "superhero buddy cop movie," and the website specifically noted how starkly it will contrast next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Heroic Hollywood is also saying that The Incredible Hulk writer Zak Penn is being looked to pen the script, although they noted this should be treated as a rumor. In addition to the previously mentioned DC CW shows, Berlanti was one of the writers of 2011’s Green Lantern.

Warners Reportedly Developing Booster Gold-Blue Beetle Movie With Greg Berlanti http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/09...ter-gold-blue-beetle-movie-with-greg-berlanti
The DC Extended Universe (their version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) is reportedly bringing the superheroes Booster Gold and Blue Beetle to the big screen. The Tracking Board reports that Warner Bros. is developing a Booster Gold-Blue Beetle live-action feature film to be directed by Greg Berlanti, the executive producer behind The CW's DC superhero TV series Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.Meanwhile, Heroic Hollywood claims comic book movie vet Zak Penn (Marvel's The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand, Elektra) will write the script."In a massively different approach from Warner’s current slate, the film will team the two heroes together in what’s being pitched as a superhero buddy cop movie," according to Tracking Board. "Comedy is the emphasis here, which is a stark contrast to the other titles in DC’s Cinematic Universe, breaking the mold of the uber serious and grounded Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."Booster Gold and Blue Beetle previously made the leap to live-action on the TV series Smallville.

Zachary Levi Comments On A Possible Return As Fandral In Thor: Ragnarok http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/zachary-levi-comments-return-fandral-thor-ragnarok/
Could he be about to play another hero or villain? “Oh no. I had a very interesting talk with Kevin Feige early on about it all and he said, “Look, it doesn’t preclude you from playing another Marvel character.” Chris Evans was The Human Torch and Captain America. Ray Stevenson was The Punisher and Volstagg. I did point out to him, ‘In fairness, neither Fantastic Four nor The Punisher was actually a Marvel movie. You were a part of it but they were produced by other studios.’ But he said, ‘Look, I totally understand that but don’t worry about it.’ I don’t know, if there’s a right role that comes along and they want me to play it, I’d love to.”That would be very interesting to see, but Feige’s comments in the past (in relation to fans wanting Idris Elba to move from Heimdall to Luke Cage) have pointed to this not being something the Marvel Studios President would be willing to do. Regardless, we’ll no doubt see more of the Heroes: Reborn star in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017.

Top Ten Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains http://www.comicvine.com/articles/top-ten-marvel-cinematic-universe-villains/1100-153637/
Everyone loves the villain, right? We look at what they've done so far and rank the top ones. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen some great villains. We've also seen some villains that haven't seem to do too much. Whenever it comes to listing multiple characters, everyone has their favorites.Creating a list or ranking characters is never easy. We've made our attempt based on certain criteria. We're including all the movie and TV villains but looking at what they've accomplished so far in the live action medium and how long they've been active. Let's be honest, most Cinematic Universe villains end up dying pretty quickly. Some of these characters' comic book counterparts would obviously rank higher. At the end, you'll even be able to vote for the villain you think is the best (or should we say the worst?).As you can imagine, there will be spoilers from the movies and TV shows.

5 Superhero Fights That We’d Love to See Go Down http://www.cheatsheet.com/entertain...-that-wed-love-to-see-go-down.html/?a=viewall
2016 is going to be a year of superhero showdowns. First, we’ll see Batman and Superman go toe-to-toe in Dawn of Justice, releasing March 26. Two months later, Captain America will go to war with Iron Man in Civil War, continuing the ongoing trend of seeing our favorite heroes throw down. There’s something about seeing comic book characters do battle, that otherwise would never oppose each other. Most often as children, we always wonder: Who would win in a fight? That very question is one we ourselves have too, leading us to wonder about how other heroes in both the Marvel and DC universe would fare against each other. So, the parameters: Think Mortal Kombat. One predetermined neutral location, where two characters go at it until one surrenders. We’re skirting around things like studio ownership of heroes, despite the fact that we would love to see these brawls in theaters. In our hypothetical universe, a DC character is allowed to crossover into the Marvel world, and vice-versa. Additionally, we’re basing origin stories and abilities on existing TV and movie universes. First up…

Marvel Studios: how long is left on everyone’s contracts? http://www.denofgeek.us/movies/marvel/249346/marvel-studios-how-long-is-left-on-everyone-s-contracts
How long until Cap, Iron Man and co need to renegotiate their multi-film Marvel contracts? We did some digging to find out how many films everyone has left Where official information is available, we've used that as a source. We've tried to fill in the gaps with our own guesswork. We'll keep this incredibly long list up-to-date as we learn more.

Marvel Has Plans For If It Gets The X-Men Or Fantastic Four Rights Back http://news.yahoo.com/marvel-has-plans-for-if-it-gets-the-x-men-or-192133277.html
Marvel president Kevin Fiege has revealed that there are contingency plans in place should they ever regain the rights to key Marvel characters - such as the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.While Feige doesn’t specifically name those two properties - the rights for which currently rest with 20th Century Fox - those are the only major names left out of the reach of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. At an event marking the release of ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Feige was asked by Slash Film’s Peter Sciretta about how they went about introducing a character, like Spider-Man, whom they wouldn’t reasonably assume they’d get the rights to.“The short answer is: the most important thing is the standalone movie, relaunching 'Spider-Man’ with a standalone movie with a new storyline that fits into this universe – that’s job number one for us."The connectivity [with other Marvel films] is great but it doesn’t drive the train. That being said, if I understand what you’re asking, we had… this has been a dream of ours for a long time, and we always had contingency plans should you know — which we always do anyways. Are we going to be able to make another movie with this actor? If we are then we’ll do this, if not, we’re going to do this. If we get the rights to a certain character that’d be great, then we’d do this, if not, we’d do this. So we always sort of operate with those alternate timelines available and are ready to shift if something happens.”

Marvel announces new Black Widow series from Daredevil creative team....'This isn’t just an action movie style comic book that happens to star Black Widow. This is a very Black Widow book.'...http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/02/marvel-new-black-widow-series
When Marvel announced their new books that would launch as part of the All-New All-Different initiative, there was one character that seemed conspicuously absent from the titles: Black Widow. That will change in early 2016, when Marvel debuts Black Widow #1 helmed by not only a brand new team, but also the entire creative team of the recently completed Daredevil series: writer Mark Waid, artist Chris Samnee, colorist Matthew Wilson and letterer Joe Caramagna. The new series comes on the heels of Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto’s acclaimed run, which recently concluded at the beginning of Secret Wars. And with the character’s first ever YA novel set to debut next week, there’s never been a more relevant time to continue telling Natasha’s story. EW spoke with Waid, Samnee, and Marvel editor Jake Thomas to find out where they plan to take the newest incarnation of Black Widow, and what we can expect.
