Do people still watch satellite TV these days

Also DirecTV seams to be the only provider committed to sports (besides NFL)

YTTV dropped most RSN and about to loose Monumental
Now there having a dispute with Disney. How about a provider that let's people pick what channels they want and dump the rest.. nut that would cost a hell of alot more!!!

It's not up to the providers, it's up to the station owners to allow them do that.

There's a reason why MySports has to include CNN, Fox News and MSNBC in order to include TBS/TNT/TruTV, FS1/FS2/BTN and USA/Golf, and why Nexstar, who owns NewsNation, is the only broadcaster witholding their Big 3 affiliates from the genre packs. Or why MyKids didn't launch until Paramount got on board.

Yep, the program producers use thier more popular channels as leverage to get carriage for thier less popular channels.

i heard they spy on people to see what there watching by monitoring the cable box some how... then when contracts come up they force those channels into more costly packages...

It's all a racket, ESPecially the sports. They simply think they have a captive audience of sports addicts. I love to see this, people cutting the cord because they're forced to buy packages that are perpetually hiking mainly due to sports content. The cord cutting only causes providers to hike even more to capitalize on their remaining "addicts," but even they start peeling away when enough is enough for them, plus they're getting essentially NO replacement or younger subscribers. A doom loop for the providers that they'll never see their way out of in time.

Need to Know: How are TV audiences measured?
