My HR23-700 just died and DTV is sending a replacement. I asked if the replacement would be the same model or newer and all they said was you will get a comparable unit. The HR23 has a 500 gig drive and I don't want any thing less. Do I have any recourse if they send a HR21 or HR22 with a smaller drive?

I doubt you will get anything lower than an HR22, but in short, no. I am sure you can complain and complain and threaten, but you are still getting the same basic hardware.

Thanks, they sent a HR22-100. They said it has a 500 gig drive.

Main difference between a HR22 and a HR23 comes in the form of non SWM LNBs . The B-Band converters needed for nonSwm LNBs are built into the box. the hr22 and 23 both have a 500 gig drive according to directv's internal reference material.

Not really built in...the tuners just didnt require them.
