DVB World Box - No Outdoor Channel HD???

Shows a resulution on the OSD of 1920x1080, but picture never shows up and no audio. Shows 98% quality on the DVB World software.

Is it still there? Did I miss something?


I'm getting all of the standard def outdoor channels on that sat.

Getting Outdoor Channel HD with my Qualitv receiver. You must be doing something wrong with the DVB World Box. Maybe PSB can help you out?

We've at least concluded that it's still there. Must be something on my end then. I'll try PBSHD on AMC3 tonight and see if that will work.

Double check the aPIDs. Often mine would scan in wrong when there is an AC3 stream there.

Very poor signal on PBS HD today. Actually, haven't been getting very good signal from any of the PBS (DVB or DC2) on AMC3 Ku. Doesn't matter if I use the 10 footer or the Primestar, same result.

Well, the PBS HD is almost working for me at the moment. Only 40% on the quality (see previous paragraph). Breaking up pretty bad, which may be a reason the audio is terribly out of sync. Video seems ssssllllooooowwww. Got some tweaking to do somewhere probably.

What software are you using? I had excellent results with TOC2HD with just a plain ole Twinhan card and TSReader sending the stream to VLC. I even ended up recording about 120 gigs of HD material from the channel before I remove the coonass CBand mount due to the fear of it falling and taking out my Ku rig.

I am using the DVBWorld software.

Just tried one of the HD 422 feeds posted in the WUT area and DVBWorld.exe (the app I'm using) was maxing out the machine at 99%. Video very slow and breaking up, but audio very good. I just tried MyTheater and it would try locking on the feed, but not scan it in.

This is sort of a lower end testing box that I threw together at the last minute. Have a 3.06GHz CeleronD running with 1 gig RAM. GeForce6200 (256MB PNY variety). Windows Media Center 2005. Not running the DVBWorld.exe inside of MCE of course, just by itself. Nothing else running (other than the system apps). Fresh install a few days ago.

Installed the nVidia PureVideo codec, but don't have any idea how to tell this program to utilize it. I'm not a Windows guy.

That should be enough especially with PBSHD's feed. I'm not familiar with the DVBWorld software, but are you using a 4:2:2 codec? And BTW... a 35mbps 4:2:2 HD feed will give your machine a run for its money.

I'm spoiled with the TSReader method, no codecs, vpids, apids, scanning, etc to contend with. Just punch in the freq and SR, click on the feed you want to watch and boom.

I didn't see anything in the DVBWorld program to tell it which codec to use. Is there something like a default decoder for Windows? I'm guessing that the system is not taking advantage of the GPU.

It is supposed to be able to run on ProgDVB and MyTheater. It seems to be recognized by MyTheater, but I haven't had much luck with either of those two to date. I'll have to download this TSReader thing tomorrow at work.

I'd suggest another piece of software that you can change codecs. I've had excellent results with the NVidia Purevideo codec, very low CPU usage.

I finally figured out the thing.

First issue was no video on outdoor channel HD using dvbworld software:
Ok, someone mentioned to check the apid and you are right. It wouldn't show a picture unless the apid was correct. Still maxed out the system.


Next issue: 100% CPU usage on HD channels.

I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK BEAUTIFULLY! 40-55% or so CPU usage on HD content.

Here's what I did to get HD working on my system.

According to DCCheck(free app from Micro$oft) which is an app that monitors your installed codecs, the nVidia PureVideo codec was my system's default codec. Apparently, DVBWorld was deciding to NOT use this. There's no way that I could find to tell DVB world to use it. No ini files floating around, no menu item for it, zip zero zilch.

Started to browse around the dvbworld folder and decided to start removing .ax files from the folder. The theory was that it would not find whatever it is trying to use and then be forced to use the system's default codec which in my case is the PureVideo.

It worked. Delete mpgdec.ax from the dvbworld folder and it will use the system default after that.

Bring on the HD feeds.:

Nice! I knew you had the power for HD feeds with the NVidia codec!

Last time I checked though NVidia's codec will not decode 4:2:2.
