DVR Fee?

I did a search and I believe I found the answer, but to make sure I am correct, if I have two HD DVR's, I only pay the DVR fee ($7) once...correct? I don't get billed ($14) because of having two DVR's do I?

Second question, is there a way to transfer the shows I currently have on my DVR to another DVR?

Yes that is true. Just one per account not per DVR. And to my knowledge, I don't think you can transfer between DVR's, but with whole home DVR, you shouldn't have to unless you are doing it between 2 different accounts or locations.

If you mean physically transfer shows between dvrs, then no, you can't. If you mean watch from one on another, then yes, what ChrisK114 said is correct.

Actually yes there is another way of transferring videos from DVR to another without whole home....well, a round about way.

You can hook an external hard drive to the DVR and move the hard drive to another unit.
Current stuff can not be transferred on the hard drive but future stuff can.

That being said, MRV is far superior as it does not involve moving something back and forth and you can continue where you left off in the other room.

That's an often asked customer's question when replacing a DVR that has failed or when upgrading a Std for an HDDVR.

I have an external hard drive hooked to my HR24, if I want to watch something on another TV your saying to move the EHD to another recvr and it will work as long as it's on your set up ?

While I would LOVE to have this be the case, whenever I have done this, been awghile because I didn't want to chance losing all my shows, I have experienced that once you plug the EHD into a second recvr, it reformats the drive so it can work on the new HD DVR thus losing all the shows on the EHD ....

Now if your saying that it CAN be done, are there certain different steps that you need to do in order for it to NOT reformat the drive ?

IF so, please post, this would be very valuable info.

My bad, I didn't know it reformatted it automatically.
Never tried it, just figured it would work.

If you reread it, you will see it clearly says EXTERNAL hard drive.

But no matter, Jimbo informed it doesn't work as the receiver will automatically reformat it when you plug it back in.

Moving drives from receiver to receiver won't help you. It will either format it automatically, or show you what is on the drive but not allow you to play anything off it.

Even when someone has a defective receiver, after replacing it and hooking up their external drive the content is unviewable.

Long term hoepfully the change it to account managed instead of receiver managed, especially in the case of when someone has a bad receiver. I believe Dish manages their hard drives this way.

It would be nice if with ethernet hook up or BBDeca if they made a way you could transfer and store stuff on your PC where it can be viewed on other DVR's

Just like back in the ReplayTV DVR days - the best DVR ever made. DirecTV owns the Sonic Blue patents and this feature set should be re-born.

You said connect an external hd, then move the hd to another dvr. Since I knew that you can't move an external hd from one dvr to another without it reformatting, I incorrectly assumed that you knew what you were talking about and meant to move the internal hd. Sorry for the confusion.
