YESTERDAY WHILE WATCHING TV MY HR20 DVR DIED OUT . COMPLETELY. IT WILL NOT POWER ON. IT DOESNT DO ANYTHING WHAT SO EVER. NO BLUE LIGHTS OR NOTHING. ALL I HEAR IS A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE RECEIVER. NOT REALLY LOUD AT ALL. I HAVE TO GET VERY CLOSE TO THE RECEIVER TO HEAR IT. IT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FIND. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVERRRRRRRRR. I HAD THE RECEIVER NEXT TO THE TV BY IT SELF. HAS THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE? IVE CALLED FOR A REPLACEMENT. I WILL BE GETTING IT IN ABOUT 3 BUSINESS DAYS OCCORIND TO THE REP. VIA (FEDEX) DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IM GETTING A NEWER VERSION (BLACK DVR) I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES.

THANK GUYS....GO DODGERS/LAKERS/USC

Chances are you will get a newer Black one, but no way to tell till it gets there, lots of times they will replace it with what you had, other times not.

When my HR20-700 finally dies, I hope to get another one just like it.

Sounds like it was probably the hard drive that went bad.

There is a good chance that they will extend your contract now for an aditional 2 years.

I ask the rep/tech that question. and they simply said no, there is no renewal of contract, plus ive been a customer since 2001. they just said will replace the receiver at no cost.

I think that has something to do with weather or not you have the Protection Plan, I think if you DO have it, they won't extend your contract.
