I have a simple one receiver set up (HR24-200). Starting this week i get a 771 error when i try to watch the recordings for the daily show and colbert report on comedy central each night. It says 30 minutes have been recorded for each show, but when i try to watch, i get the 771 and nothing is there to watch. Every thing else is recording normally. Any ideas?

Comedy Central is on 103CA transponder 20. What is your signal strength there?

something is definitely wrong

that number is in the 20s

here are the 101 numbers
74 84 69 0 61 88 57 87
59 83 62 0 67 90 61 91
64 86 72 28 70 93 65 92
64 77 60 71 60 90 0 92

ran a system test. diagnostic code 43-72-990

satellite dish alignment code problem

I also realized that other things are not recording properly. Only local channels are

Those 101 numbers are low, so assuming other sats are even lower, dish is out of alignment or if up north maybe covered in snow...

Could be jdspencer, but with the 101 numbers he posted, his dish definitely needs an alignment.

Teach me! Why do you say it's more likely the lnb if it's 101?

Because the op stated he had hd... in the event he mistook the 103 for the 101 while posting it is possible it just needs to be aligned. However if the 101 had signal quality in the 70s or 80s there is pretty much no chance the 99 or 103 would have anything at all due to how alignment works. So he wouldn't have any tv rather than a problem with 1 or 2 channels.

Now if the 99 was in the 90s the 101 was in the 80s and the 103 was in the 90s there is 0 chance of peaking the 101 higher without dropping the 99.103 lower. Thus leaving a faulty lnb.

In short if the 101 is ever that low... then the 99 and 103 should not be working at all... so if they are the lnb is failing.

So you are saying it's basically a geometry issue. Gotcha. I'd still try an alignment first.

Well, you have all the fancy pants equipment! We regular guys have to work off of intuition and outright guessing!
