my line of sight in my yard is limited to 72w - 127w due to woods behind my house, but my landlord owns the woods, so i am going to try to hide a camouflage dish at the other side of the woods for hispasat 1c/1d at 30w:D
(see attached screenshot of dishpointer.com)
my question is, is there any other satellites east of 72w that have good english programing that you guys would recommend that i add an lnb for?
thanks,
Denny

Telsar 14 < I think its called, at 63 used to have 10 channels of PBS programming in English.
Or most of it in English. I have trees in the way of it too, every place I've thought about putting a fixed dish for it, so I have given up on anything east of 72 for awhile.

also, to anyone who is currently pointed at hispasat 1c/1d, how strong is this sat? how big does a dish on this sat need to be to be reasonably reliable?
thanks,
Denny

Hispasat is purdy stout...I had plenty of signal when testing it with a 1 meter dish, so any reasonably sized KU dish should have no problem. We're not far apart so signals should be similar.

I'm near Crossville, about 100 miles west of you and I am using a DTV slimline(AU9) dish to get Hispasat. The slimline is approx. 22X32, as best as I remember and I get about as good of signal as my 90cm dish for hispasat. Pretty strong SQ for this area.

76cm works fine for Hispasat. I had a 37x27 Channelmaster dish aimed at it in MN....with its 9 elevation ;)

I am also able to pick up Hispasat with a 76 cm dish (from Eastern Nebraska). This sat provides me with a good strong signal on the Winegard 76 cm DS-2076, but I am currently using a 1.2 M GeoSAT Pro dish.

Other than 30.0°W and 63.0°W, I do not currently pick up anything east of 72.0°W. At one time I was able to pick up 43.1°W and 37.6°W, but haven't seen a signal from these sats for quite some time.

thanks for the info guys :)
well, i have a superdish pointed at hispasat now with about 275 ft of wire run, 2 diplexers, and a powered 22khz switch in line, it still gets a peak of 49 on the quality!!!!
i put it just inside the edge of the woods on a small homemade non pen.
not seen any english programming on it yet though.

wow, my brain must have taken the day off the other day, i didnt have the transponders locked in that you guys listed, and after looking at my settings, i noticed that i had the lo for this dish with a stacked lnb set at 10750:rolleyes:
i set it to 13850 and scanned in a total of 11 transponders now, i just had 3 before.
got better programming now:D:up:up:up:up
thanks guys,
Denny

Ynnedibanez (Denny),

Hey, could you kindly list the TPs/polarities and symbol rates of the ones you managed to pick up?

I have trouble acquiring this sat and maintaining it. I think because it is inclined and I am using a motorized system instead of a fixed point dish. It would be nice to have a known good list of TPs to check up on from time to time.

Thanks,

Intelsat 9 58W (All transponders. Very strong signal)
Intelsat 805 55.5W(All transponders C- band).

sure, anytime:)
keep in mind that this is with about 275 feet of rg6 copper clad steel wire, 2 diplexers, and a 22khz switch in line with a super dish with the fss stacked lnb
with the lo set at 13850.
pansat 2700a
i am sure that i am loosing a lot of sig q and quite possibly not getting some transponders that i would if i had a shorter wire run, a bigger dish, or didnt have the diplexers or switch in line.
plus the frequencies will be off and all of them come through as horizontal because of the stacked lnb.
but anyway, here they are,
14984 27.500 cubavision, tele rebelde, educativo, educativo 2, cubavision internaci, acn, contribucion
15037 7.500 telecaribe columbia, zoom, rci

15524 27.500 no tv ch.
15568 27.500 no tv ch.
15725 27.500 no tv ch.
15246 4.200 no tv ch.
15269 5.240 (really low sq) solo tango, supreme master tv
15525 27.500 press tv, kuwait tv, tv marti, c canarias tv, ktv ch2, youth sport, al minber tv
15566 27.500 syrian tv, abu dabi tv, oman tv, al iraqiya, saudi tv, qatar tv, sharjah tv, sudan tv, jamahirya tv, syrian drama channel, saudi sunnah
Hispasat 1C at 30.0°W - LyngSat lyngsat page on this bird
