I tried your "trick" with tuner change on numerous tps and it would give a momentary 53 signal strength, then go back to the original strength.
What is your strength on tp 5 spot?

You did not look at what I was replying to (which I quoted).

The trick is only needed if you have no meter reading at all on a channel you receive fine on an EchoStar 7 spot beam.

If it is due to an error correction setting, as Digiblur suggests, then it will not be a problem tomorrow.

Nothing new on the maps....same ones I made a while back off the data nelson61 provided.
Aha, I figured out the difference.

Back last year, you posted the very informative and useful post:

which had these near the top:
Spotbeam A2 - North/Central California - Transponders 2,4,6

Spotbeam A3 - East Oregon/Idaho - Transponders 2,4,6

Spotbeam A4 - Central California - Transponders 5,7,9,11
So, I assumed that the spot beams that were currently on Transponders 5 and 7 on Echostar 7 would be on Spotbeam A4 on EchoStar 14, since it said "Transponder 5 and 7". The odd bulge to the East seem to allow for the addition of Sacramento channels on that Spot Beam.

But from the list in the top post, they are not using the same transponders. A4 will be for Reno (makes somewhat more sense, although it is still oddly near the top of the beam) and A2 will be for S.F. and some future DMA (?)...

So, due to a lack of specific info a year ago, I was confusing the maps, so there has not been any change in the maps at all.

No problem. Enjoy doing it. By the way, I could have some things wrong on where things are going. As it is an educated guess on my part based on the data I have, matching markets to each beam. We will soon find out how good those guesses were. ;)

Does the TSReader or other software give information on which spot beam is used by a particular channel (after it is actually in use) ?

Or do you mean just by the reports of members of signal strength ?
 
It looks like they did about half of the migration of the ConUS transponders tonight. Except for what they had on conus tp 4, the rest of the channels stayed on their same tp (unlike the last migration to ciel 2).

Well, here, under similar conditions. TPs not changed are within a point or 2 less.

TP9 has a signal of 77. Must be the FEC 7/8 that gives it similar readings to E7

12 has gone to 87, 15 to 89, 16 to 87, 19 to 89, and 20 to 85

So TP 9 took the CONUS signals from TP4, and it looks to me like TPs 12, 15, 16, 19, and 20 are transferred.

The tables list which TID/PTC (transponder ID) the channel is located on. It does not say E14 SBA1 or whatever. It will just have a 4 digit number that I convert to the correct beam number matched to the map.
