This is why I pull the coax on all radios if I think a storm is getting near...or if a storm may come and I will be gone.
I admit the two meter stays hooked up most of the time though.

Kust my ht indoor is hooked to a slim-J 24/7 . Hf is unhooked unless im there at the dial.

It takes around 25,000 volts to jump 1 inch on an open-air gap. I used to build Tesla Coils, and Jacob's Ladders.

Doesn't anyone install per National Electrical Code Article 810? An "Antenna discharge unit" (ground block) should have prevented this.
