Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

The number-one US state for EV growth, according to the June 22 Yardi report?
Oklahoma.

:eek

It has no ZEV mandates and "minimal" incentives, Yardi says, but also has cheap electricity, high multi-car household rates (so, for example, a non-Lightning Ford F-150 pulls their trailers), and a consumer base willing to switch.

Very little in Oklahoma. Haven't noticed much of any difference on either of mine during the winter or in 99-100F temps with high humidityd dew points over the weekend.

Go troll elsewhere
go on youtube and look at some of the people that there teslas wouldn't charge up in winter in places like NY and shitcago 🤔 ;)

Incredible claims require incredible proof - cite something rather than point at a website of many billions of videos and lazily claim 'my proof is there!'

Reduced effectiveness? Sure, perhaps to some degree, but a complete nonfactor to the vast majority of drivers.

'Wouldn't charge' ? Nope. Not without other exceptional circumstances impacting the vehicle or charger.

As a reminder - you're trying to preach pretty clearly wrong information to a bunch of people with first hand day-to-day experience - perhaps consider it an opportunity to understand why you thought this was true rather than double/triple down on being wrong because... 'youtube said it'.

heat and cold effect the batteries
Not nearly as much as you might seem to believe.

We have swapped to all EVs, and the south miss heat hasnt impacted our range. While I dont have a massive amount of experience with extreme cold temps, we did have several days in the teens (wind chills in the single digits) the last two winters. Yes, range was impacted somewhat, but it wasnt an amount to where it would impact your experience with the car.

i think lithium batteries are starting or will be phased out for something else
Sodium-ion batteries being tested by a large commercial trucking operation in China are supposed to be good (90% capacity) down to -40F. Charge times are pretty impressive as well. Battery life is claimed at 8,000 fast-charge cycles.

I would like to point out that cold weather impacts ICE vehicles efficiency as well (15-20% by most internet sources ive seen). Its just that most drivers are used to it, and likely dont give it a second thought as it really isnt all that damning on your day to day driving (much like an EV).

One perk of an EV, I can have my vehicle already warmed up using power from the grid rather than the batteries themselves. So you dont get that initial hit to get things comfortable versus idling to warmup with a combustion engine, which definitely uses the fuel on board with no way around that.

Out of Spec launching a service to help people buy cars and defray some of the frustration / annoyance / time commitment of dealing w/ a dealership.

Here is a summary of the video Buying A Car Sucks - We Are Going To Change That:

Overview

Kyle and his father Dave from Out of Spec Reviews announce the launch of Out of Spec Deals, a car-buyer negotiation service designed to take the stress, time commitment, and hidden dealer markups out of purchasing or leasing a new or used vehicle [00:56 Opens in a new window ].

Key Takeaways

  • The Problem with Car Buying: Direct-to-consumer models (like Tesla or Rivian) offer simple online purchasing, but buying traditional legacy brand vehicles through dealerships often involves deceptive pricing, high turnover sales reps, and stressful negotiations [09:17 Opens in a new window ].
  • Buyer-Centric Model: Traditional auto brokers are often compensated by dealerships, creating conflicting incentives. Out of Spec Deals strictly represents the buyer and will never accept money or kickbacks from dealerships [05:33 Opens in a new window ], [08:11 Opens in a new window ].
  • How the Service Works:
  • Flat Fee & Pricing: The service currently charges a flat fee of $500 [14:43 Opens in a new window ].
  • Client & Dealer Portals: They are launching a website featuring transparent tracking for buyers and a dealer portal where honest dealerships can bid on deals in real time [20:01 Opens in a new window ].
