external hard drive for two DVRs

I have 2 DVRS, If I buy an external hard drive and get it authorized does anyone know if the external hard drive will be able to play back and record on both receivers, or will I have to pay dish twice for activation with each of my receivers?

if it's a ViP-622 or 722 pair, it's one fee per ACCOUNT, and the HDDs can be moved between receivers.

(Any combination of 622's or 722's, IIRC).
