Just got the set yesterday. Gorgeous picture. Hooked up a Toshiba Blu ray-
Picture is very nice.

Sold my Oppo 83. Did not need anymore. But build quality on Toshiba Blu ray is
surprisingly flimsy.

Going to give the 3D a spin tomarow.

So far Im very impressed with my 55'' Toshiba.
Amazon did a real nice job setting up this tv for me.
Great experience.

Also Amazon Prime was awesome. No shipping charge.
Still on free trial on Prime but seriously thinking about plunking
down 90 bucks to keep it.

Shipping back the Toshiba Dvd player. What a piece of junk!
Unit would not power on today. Only after I unplugged it did it eventually
go on.
The units build quality is like a cheap 29 dollar unit you would get at Walmart.
I had the toshiba original HD format blu ray player. That uint was built very well.
Kinda Shocked they would put out such garbage.

So I ordered a LG Blu ray 3 replacement. I have a couple of them already and I really like them.

Oh well, I guess you live and learn.

I bought the Toshiba 55WX800U.

I must say im very impressed.
I was looking at a slew of other sets. LG included.
I got this because it packed ''everything'' i wanted in a new set.
: thin
: Led
: 240Hz
: wiresless internet
: 3d
: Affordable

Plus it was bundled at Amazon with 2 3d glasses.
Price was very good! 1600...
Plus I used the Amazon Prime. Free shipping (and set up)
Opened an Amazon card and received extra discount. Financing
free for 24 months. However, I hate debt so it wont last very long.

I have to say Im blown away by the picture. Its that crisp.

BTW, here is a HTM review of the set. Sounds a lot like my 2009 670 Regza, when tweaked produced a very good image. I always used Clearscan 240 and left film on smooth. It was a little soap opera, but I liked it.

Ive had the Toshiba for about a week.
If you can believe I still have not tried the 3d yet.

I promised my 11 year old daughter I would not watch it without her.
We have been too busy of late.

Im looking to buy Avatar in 3D but as of now its a fortune.

But the 2D is outstanding. Its as good as my Panasonic 54'' Plasma.
The Panasonic is a fairly high end unit.
I paid 2 years ago 3000 for it. It produces an outstanding picture.

I would go as far as saying that my new Toshiba produces just as black
blacks as my Panasonic!

Im thrilled with this tv. Its less than half the price of the Panasonic.
Also does not run as hot.

I have to figure out how to turn on and off the 240?

I would highly recommend this set to anyone looking for an affordable upgrade.

Glad you like it! I just ordered a 55" Samsung, should be fun. Why do you need to turn the 240 off? On my set it was called "ClearScan".

Any recomendations for 3D blu ray discs?

Should I just break down and buy Avatar??

I would leave it on. I was back and forth, but preferred it on. It also gives you almost the full lines of resolution when its on (I found no negatives to it being on). It's really not a 240hz set, like one other brand, the Toshiba is a 120hz set that scans the backlight to give a 240hz effect. It's not as good as say Samsungs AMP, but it does a good job IMO.

Yeah, its a 55D8000, comments so far look like its a nice set.

You can get a Panasonic player and Avatar for about the same price as Avatar is going for... Despicable Me & Coraline are pretty good, been hearing good things about Tangled also...

I had a budget or my wife might have skinned me alive..lol

I guess I could have sneaked in a couple of more bucks.
But for what the Toshiba gives I guess it will do the trick.

I was really into getting the whole 3D package.
So Toshiba allowed me to put my foot into the water without jumping head on.

Ive in the past spent a fortune on high end sets.
This time I needed to be a little bit more careful.

I was contemplating the Sony 60 nx810. Expensive but I was thinking about it.
2 issues. My past two Sonys broke on me within three years.
Next issue was you need an emitter for use with 3d??
Its not built in. Thats nuts!
So I moved on.

That said I loved the Samsung sets!

I really enjoyed my Regza 670u, just the LED Local Dimming blooming got to me, be curious how these side lit new ones work. Not as good of blacks maybe, but no blooming. We shall see!
