Anyone know where I can find the original or older versions of the Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra Firmware, boot files, and the updater programs?
Fortec's site only has the last one from 2005.
I want to experiment with older versions, and I'm also looking for info on AL7BAR or any other programs that will work with the Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra.
Also interested in learning about JTAGing on this receiver.
The original site for AL7BAR is gone, and I haven't been able to locate complete info or files searching online.
Thanks in advance for any help or info.

the only thing I could find was a jtag kit from 2005 that had a core bin file from 2003
most sites that were around pre 2005 have gone belly up.

I wonder if that would work on mine, I don't know much about this receiver, but so far I've enjoyed playing around with it. Where can I find the file?
I'm eventually going to get a new receiver, since some of the FTA channels have gone MP4, and also would like a receiver with IPTV support. I'm on a tight budget, so I'm considering an Alphabox (or OpenBox) X5 HD FTA Receiver or maybe a X2 Premium HD PVR FTA Satellite Receiver.
Thanks for your help and comments.

jtagging definitely calls for a vintage pc running win2k or xp.
Don't forget, jkeys was written over 12 years ago.
For fta receivers I always preferred programs like skymax_up or jtag_up,which were actually written for fta receivers.
Modern usb devices like the usbjtagnt should be able to do it also,it was designed for newer pc's without a parallel port.

I'm actually using a Dell Optiplex 320 PC that still has a serial & a parallel port, with Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. So far I haven't had any issues with the older software to upload/download from my receiver. Also since I am using the 32 bit version of Windows 8, it will also let me run some old 16 bit programs as well, including some DOS apps.
