"Film Movement, the North American film company that distributes first-run, independent and foreign films, launched the Film Festival Channel (FFC), a nationwide free video on demand channel. Sponsored by Stella Artois, the new cinema-centric network is being carried by Cox, Verizon FiOS TV, Comcast (Washington State), Mediacom, Armstrong and Bresnan Communications. FFC has yet to ink a deal with either DIRECTV or DISH Network.
The Film Festival Channel will offer exclusive VOD content featuring award-winning, independent and foreign films from the world's leading festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin, Sundance, SXSW and Tribeca. With more than 100 films, Film Movement said it will continue to expand its library as the company travels to top festivals around the world, offering VOD subscribers access to fresh, acclaimed films.
Film Movement said every month FFC will present four feature-length and four short films. This 10-hour package will have a refresh rate of 50 percent and early titles include Alexandra's Project (the winner of four awards including Australian Film Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay); official selections from the Telluride, Toronto and Berlin International Film Festivals; HAWAII, OSLO (winner at the Norwegian Film Festival and the Amanda Awards, the Norwegian Oscar); and The Middle of the Road (official selection at the Toronto, San Sebastian, Seattle and San Francisco International Film Festivals)."
