Free Simulsat in Davis, California

I once moved a Simulsat from the Commerce Casino in eastern part of Los Angeles, to UCLA on the west end of the city. About a 25 mile trip. Took at least three of us working on a Sunday afternoon to dismantle things, and then most of a Monday to move it to the new location. A lot of that time was dealing with the rigging of the crane, and the fact that the first crane broke down on the job and we have to wait for a new machine to finish the off-loading. It sat in storage for several months and thousand of dollars worth of cement work, then another hoisting job with a crane. Really tricky to get things back together and aligned with the feed support structure. Even though the antenna was literally given to the university by the casino company as a tax write-off, many thousands of dollars were spent in transport and re-installation. Cannot say that I would want to do it again, but it was an interesting experience back nearly 20 years ago.

Hmmm... 1900 miles one way...
3800 round trip.
So, $3800 if I can get a return load.
$11,400 if not.
Plus another $2500 or so for someone to dismantle and load it.
Then... say ~$5000 for concrete work, cranework, and assembly here.
I'm think I'm going to say... uh, nope.

I would have to weld both my s10's together with two 16' utility trailors....
Let see:

98' s10 5 speed two wheel drive 4.3L (Highly modded)300HP
'03 s10 automatic two wheel drive 4.3L (stock 190HP)

Total bed area 12x12 feet
Total trailor area 16x16 feet.....I can haul it LOL!!!

Never contacted the owner or drove out to Davis to look at them. You might check with the cable company or the city of Davis to see if the dishes are still standing or available. Maybe the Craigslist posting was archived by a web crawler Bot to retrieve the contact info.

PM me if you need a local person on the ground to help facilitate.

If ever you wondered about the size of this dish...

ive had my eye on one of these dishes in alberta for the last couple years. thanks satav for the indentification and links. crazy thing about it is my girlfriend called dibs on it as we drove by. haha. i wish i could find out who owns it and give it a new home. too bad the dishes you posted are thousands of miles from me.

crackt out,.

Those things are huge!! There is a Charter building on the Coastal Highway in Oregon where you can see their dish farm a Simulsat and two other huge sats. I would need more property for one of these. Time to call the Realtor.
