The statement from Dish says direct connect or HIC for the Joeys to have DLNA. To me direct connect means either net to router, not MOCA. Still seems pretty gray.

So same as connected through MOCA only.

I think you mean ethernet, not "either net".
I asked Scott if he or Dish could clarify this this morning.
Yes. Thats what I meant. Dang auto correct!!!![]()
Where do you connect cable from HIC after ethernet cable goes to it?
I have a 2 Hopper (LAN to each) and 4 Joey (no LAN) system. If I understand this thread correctly, I would need one HIC on one Joey to get DLNA throughout my house. If so, will Dish send me a HIC for free if I was not given one during my install? Or do I understand correctly that the software upgrade allowing Hopper integration "should" allow this without the hardware?
If your installer gave you their phone number, see if they'll drop one off. If not, then message DIRT and see if they'll arrange it.I have a 2 Hopper (LAN to each) and 4 Joey (no LAN) system. Negatory on the DLNA. The Windows Media Server doesn't see the Hopper, either. With a direct connect to Hopper – Hopper can access all apps, BB@Home, and DLNA
Correct- Joey can access all apps (EXCEPT DLNA HOME MEDIA) and BB@Home
Negatory. Other than the Joey stating it is connected to the LAN in Broadband settings page, the LAN connection does not actually do anything. To get DLNA to a Joey
- Need to direct connect the Joey OR use a HIC
Far more reports of it NOT working than working, at least on this forum. Many reports of DLNA not working – we are looking into it
