Another reason for the higher gas price in California is that they mandate a special blend of gasoline to help alleviate smog. It has worked for the most part.

We're paying $2 less per gallon yet no smog....go figure.

You don't have near the auto and truck traffic that California has. You also have an entirely different climate, more wind, rain and humidity.
I was just kidding with you. I've been out to LA a few times and realize those mountains tend to hold in the smog. Went to the observatory two nights in a row years ago....first night you could see the entire city, clear as a bell. Next night you wouldn't have known there was a city down there. Never got a chance to go up in your area so I'm not sure if you guys experience the same thing or not.

Our gas prices here are edging up to 4.09. Diesel is still right at 6

Thought you guys might find this a bit astounding. My brother in law is a trucker, he sent this pic when he filled up today. Kinda puts things into perspective doesn't it
diesel fill up.webp

$6.799/gallon of diesel sounds about right for Fall of 2026, I'm sorry to say. That's going to roll into whatever the cargo being shipped and passed on to the end consumers.

Oklahoma I think:
Definitely NOT Oklahoma. Got a friend who lives out there....their fuel prices tend to be on the lower end of the chart. He said they were around the 4.10 area for gas and a bit over 6 for diesel.

That works out to about $6.79 per gallon which isn't the most expensive I have heard about. So it could be worse for him. :)

Yes just like the tariff money did too. And then the court ordered refunds went back to to the sellers instead of the the end consumers.

Were rumors on a diesel export ban. I'm guessing the API catapulted a couple people towards the White House to get that awful idea nixed.

He should get a smaller tank. That'll make it cost less to fill up. :p

Truck drivers typically don't pay full price for diesel.
That depends on the diesel tax structure where you make the purchase.

In Oregon, we call what truckers buy "off-road diesel" or "red diesel" (burgundy-colored dye). We use a "weight-mile" tax (based on miles logged in the state) rather than a tax per gallon. An advantage of this scheme is that it already covers e-rigs.

Red diesel is for agriculture and industrial use here, filled up my Tomcar with red diesel everyday in the mine before I retired...
