getting receiver to recognize dish

I have a dual lnd model #ZKF-G52N that I want to take tailgating but I am not able to get anything but "looking for satellite" on my tv. I got reception in my yard yesterday by removing the access card and reinserting it but that is the only time it has worked

What dishes are you using at each location?
What model receiver?
Maybe the alignment in your backyard is sufficiently different from where you tailgate.
