I replaced a Thomson DTC-100 hidef D* receiver with a new H20 and now my HD channels look poor. Is this because of a change in MPEG formats? It affects both satellite and OTA.Setting the picture to 480p gives the least distortion of sharpness, contrast and brightness.

Also: what is the purpose of the "Format" (480i,480p,720p,1080i) control. Doesn't the H20 automatically match the output format of the source?

Thanks, iks

The only resolutions that are HD are 720p and 1080i, so choose one of those formats to output to your HD TV (whichever one looks best to your eye), or enable all resolutions in the H20 that your TV accepts and set the H20 for "native", and it will output whatever resolution the broadcast source is to your HD TV. Does this answer your question?
