Why is it that ham radio is never represented at CES?

A few years ago I did see some emergency service scanners at some mail order business booths at CES but they have disappeared. Could it be that scanners have lost their appeal due to most emergency services radio are encrypted? I know radio shack stopped selling them here because there is nothing to listen to on them.

It would be nice if they were there but I suspect ham radio gear at CES is not worth it because it's such a niche market. You better off going to Dayton to see the new stuff.

Well Don I don't think it would be the proper venue for them. Icom or Yaesu or Kenwood maybe. Dayton Hamvention is the best place to see new ham gear.

You would think ARRL would be there but maybe they aren't as proactive as they were back in the 60's and 70's.

Don,
I could not belive the amount of space that the ARRL had at the Dayton Hamvention. the sction was jammed, They were selling books, T-shirts, etc. they were giving away a free ARRL cloth tote bag with each purchase. (Got my 2010 Field Day T-shirt and Tote bag) They had almost all of the education group there giving demo's and they had a group teaching how to solder and making kits. I spent a couple of hours in their section last year. I expect to be back at the hamvention again this year. The date is May 20-22,2011.

Ham Radio ROCKS,
